Simmenfälle - Lenk im Simmental

We stopped here for a mid-afternoon lunch after a long hike down from the top of the Metsch summit station. This place is a welcome sight after hours being on the trail. They have ample shaded seating on an outside terrace facing the falls and the mountains. Service is not the quickest, though people were extremely warm and friendly, especially to those with children and dogs. The menu offers traditional Swiss food and has many options. Portions are large and prices are quite reasonable. The desserts and ice cream menu are quite elaborate. Many people obviously had come just for coffee and dessert. There is a large playground near the terrace and a teepee with interesting animal artifacts inside to see. Overall, this is a very family-friendly restaurant in a beautiful location at the end of the Lenk im Simmental area. It is is clear by the number of customers that this place is a favorite and lives up to its name.

The waiter was really nice and friendly, but that's about the best you can say about it. I ordered a sausage and cheese salad, and my partner ordered an asparagus salad. Both were very manageable portions, OK, small. Apart from the sausage and cheese and a bit of lettuce, mine included just about one spoonful each of courgette, beetroot, and sweetcorn out of a can. My partner's asparagus salad included a grand total of four asparagus spears. and those were of the preserved variety, despite it being the season for fresh asparagus. Altogether the place is a bit of a tourist trap. If you're so far up that end of the Simmental, e.g to look at the waterfall, there's nowhere else to eat, and I guess they know it.

We lived in Lenk for two years and the Simmenfalle became our go-to restaurant. Always a friendly welcome. Always reliably good food. Loved the relaxing sound of the waterfall when dining on the terrace. Utterly Swiss!

We stayed there already more than 5 times. I always got my room I wanted. Really nice family (Henzen) who is handeling the restaurant. Very friendly people. Good restaurant. And it is in a death end valley. So it is really in the midle of the nature. Better than Lenkerhof! The menue is really big and the food is fresh and in a very good quality. The restaurant has a very nice athmosphery. I always feel home. The wine menue is quite big.
