Bidrage med feedbackIt was years since I had eaten here. the lookout is beautiful, good French pommes. but what I didn't appreciate was rough commercialism. this restaurant was always known for its special clam recipe, so that the people came for cuddling. now the famous cuddles were moved to the starter (entrée) part of the menu. so that after a taste of mushing they can comfortably move to a piece of fish instead of enjoying the significantly lower mushles. it is equivalent to chick fil a or kfc only chickenuggets as beside dishes. back where I grew up, we called the customer. what a shame to go on such a foolish trick. you feel like you're on the middle sea coast.
Everyone has told us to go there as it is an institution in the region. we had lunch there and loved it! delicious eating, beautiful environment, authentic decor with breathtaking view. super friendly staff. we had a wonderful lunch there
We had really enjoyed our first visit in this cape institution. it is in fact one of the places kap denizens congregate too, especially the better known, but one must keep an eye for specials of the day. if they. an appetizer of langoustines, although they love the little creatures, they ask for the price five of them to come. the fries are some of the best on bassin and the muddles well, as the fish without served. the thunfish. not red tuna and a tad too thin to be only supposed. the red snaps were small and cooked with a flour cover. the cafe-gourmand for dessert was ok, the cannelé was excellent.
Never disappoints. Great service, perfect menu, cosy ambience. We go there at least times during the season.
Arrived at the restaurant for the service. We booked a table for but were installed on a table that would have normally been for so, we squeezed in between seats to have our meal. We were told that the must here were...the mussels and so we decided to go for a moules frites evening. Ordered two bottles of wine on top of it. Food arrived faster than a sandwich at McDo and in a few minutes the tables were overloaded with big trays of french fries and mussels. Ki fries were placed on top of the only jug of water that was on the table and the bread basket placed on the radiator. We ate the fries and the mussels (must admit that they were good and digging into them was a real pleasure). We asked a few times to the waiters to come and collect the empty shells since it was rather difficult to cope space wise on that little table. At one stage I had to put the dish on the floor so that we could eat since nobody was coming around to collect it. As soon as the mussels and french fried trays were empty, the owner Mme Bernadette came around asking for dessert and literally minutes later the desserts were served at the table. I think that i had times at Mcdonalds where it took longer to have my meal. Ordered the puy d'amour no knowledge on how to present nicely a dessert, pieces of cake with a little custard cream in them, thrown on a dish. We arrived at people, by we were ready to leave the restaurant. The bill came to us as a heart attack, of course the bottles of wine took a tool but... i do not think i have ever seen a bill for of french fries. The evening ended up with a fantastic bill of over We realised that we go there for the view (never saw any of it since our table was in a corner by the entrance) and the chance to meet up with local known people (never saw anyone). Local lifestyle at that price does not fit in our standards, someone in town told us that restaurant is always full and while the food is good, the prices keep going up cos people are willing to pay more and more to go there. Since there is demand there is room for raising prices up. I have been there once, definately will not go a second time. Over priced mussels and french fries, over priced wine. With a bill you expect to get a table for as you booked and not a table for arranged for When we complained to the waitress her reaction was rather stunning these tables are set up by management, no point in talking to the small staff in other words we should have just said we booked for you give us a table for and we will not accept anything else when we arrived. Funny how someone not known by locals is also pushed on a table by the entrance door as well, we had a view of all the people coming and going, lots of them with tails apparently since we had to shout several times to shut the door. We apparently paid for the view that we did not see since it was night time and as i said placed on a table by the entrance...
