Bidrage med feedbackIf they travel the autobahn to or from Central South France (agde, beziers, perpignan etc. or Eastern Spain and need an autobahn stop, consider the crossing of the Caylar services. enter the autobahn and meet their fuel and toilet requirements in the services. then, instead of driving in the very standard car train cafeteria, or walk meters from the back of the service park in direction la fournil du larzac, a modern family-run boulangerie and terrace. they cannot miss it, it has designed a very large “Boulangerie Patisserie” sign on its dach to see from the service parking place. it offers some of the best brot in france (and therefore in my look at the world) along with excellent cakes and pastries, both sweet and sweet. there is a large café area so they can sit and have a hot or cold drink while they try a croissant or cake. in the background you can see how the bakers big dough pieces around heaving. they also offer simple sandwiches (ham, cheese etc. made with their brot. it is clean and simple and much better than the services. it also offers a small selection for local products, tinted meat, wee, honey, etc., ideal for the local gifts they have forgotten. if they want to be on camp for their holiday or picnic, they can get brot etc. here and walk more meters to an excellent SPAR convenience store and, if you want more, more meters to an excellent metzger. if you want to include a little light tourism, further meters are the village centre of le caylar with its unusual carved tree.
Excellent accueil , beaucoup plus authentique que le resto de la station service. 9 € pour un plat du jour : steak , frites, salade. Cuisson de la viande parfaite. Une étape sympa et de qualite sur l'autoroute.
If you are travelling the A75 motorway to or from central southern France (Agde, Beziers, Perpignan etc.) or eastern Spain and need a motorway stop consider junction 49 the Caylar services. Enter from the motorway and meet your fuel and toilet needs in the services Then, rather than eat in the very standard motorway cafeteria drive, or walk 150 metres out of the back of the services car park towards La Fournil du Larzac, a modern family run boulangerie and patisserrie. You can’t miss it, it has a very large ‘Boulangerie Patisserie’ sign on its roof designed to be seen from the services car park. It offers some of the best bread in France (and hence in my view in the world) together with excellent cakes and pastries, both sweet and savoury. There is a large café area so you can sit and have a hot or cold drink while you sample a croissant or cake. In the background you can see the bakers heaving great lumps of dough around. They also offer simple sandwiches (ham, cheese etc.) made with their bread. It’s clean and easy and simple and much better than the services. It also offers a small selection for local produce, tinned meats, wines, honey etc, ideal for those homecoming gifts you have forgotten. If you want to stock up for your holiday or picnic you can get bread etc. here and walk another 40 metres to an excellent SPAR convenience store and, if you want more, another 40 metres to an excellent butcher. If you want to include a little light tourism another 100 metres further on is the village centre of Le Caylar with its unusual carved tree.
