Forever Family Soul Food

First visit. Way too much money spent for turkey meatloaf and two veggies. The meatloaf was MEATless And all bread stuffing. Cabbage was OK, collard greens were tough and not seasoned well. The best thing going with the cornbread muffin.

Unfortunately, I did not take pics, but can attest that the portion sizes are excellent, and the staff pleasant and friendly. For my overall experience the meal was marginal/mediocre in quality and taste compared to the cost of the meal. I ordered the Turkey wings (a bit dry/overcooked my sister's are superior), cornbread dressing (mine is better) , green beans (overcooked, too soft, flavor was good), and a side of Mac and Cheese (good, a bit salty). The rice andgravy is what really killed this rating. The rice was overcooked and had a starchy film as if it should have been rinsed, or a different cooking method used. Adding their gravy (watery, and mostly fat) made it worse. If I were to go back,I'd insist that they not put the rice on my plate. The restaurant was busy, so I guess it is liked by many, but just did not stand up to my expectations of quality or taste.

The food is terrible. When this restaurant first opened, it was fantastic, and my family and I would eat here at least twice a week. However, I began to notice a change when the staff changed, and with that change came a decline in both food quality and customer service. I've tried to give it multiple chances because it's a Black-owned business, but after my most recent visit, I won't be going back. The dressing was undercooked and watery, and the fish was only cooked on one side. I don’t know what happened, but the food looked messy and unappetizing. Save your money; I ended up throwing an entire plate away. The juices leaked everywhere, so I had to transfer my meal to a plate when I got home, and ultimately, I just discarded it all.

I really enjoyed the flavorful vegetables, even without the addition of salt or meat. The chicken was tender and well-seasoned. I will definitely stop by again when traveling. It's conveniently located just off the interstate in Sugarloaf. The cake was moist and had just the right amount of sweetness.

The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The chicken lacked freshness, and the white rice was bland and overly mushy. However, the collard greens, mac and cheese, and cornbread were fantastic! I would definitely recommend trying those when you visit. The staff was friendly, but the atmosphere was lacking, so I'd suggest opting for takeout. Given the prices, I believe the food should meet higher standards. It would be great if they could serve fresh chicken when it's ordered. I'm not sure about the other meats, but overall, I'd consider returning since it wasn't too terrible.
