Bidrage med feedbackAfter eating at the restaurant our first night, we just had to return the next evening. Kurt, the host, was so knowledgeable, warm and welcoming. He made our meal just the more magical. The food was fantastic and fresh. Our stay at the hotel was...lovely as well. The rooms were very traditional Swiss and our view of the town and mountains were beautiful. The staff was very polite and helpful. Thank you for making the Bernese Oberland area unforgettable!!
Hotel Schonegg was just incredible. If you’re visiting Wengen then you can’t beat the location, rooms, service or food. The view is by far the best in Wengen! We opted for half board (dinner included for one night only since we didn’t know what to...expect, but our first night’s dinner quickly convinced us to add dinner to some of our other nights as well. Being foodies, we tried several restaurants in Wengen, and while they were great (Da Sina for pizza! , nothing beat the quality and service of Schonegg’s restaurant. If you’re a fan of fine dining and wine tasting, then this is it. During our last night Kurt, the manager on site, was just delightful his service and attention to detail was the best. Two points: I’ll be sad to leave tomorrow and it’s rare that I review a place before I’ve even checked out! We initially booked a smaller room since it was all that was available. When the larger junior suite opened up we opted to book it for rest of our stay. Couldn’t have made a better choice. The junior suite was amazing. Beautiful view and awesome bathroom. Having said that though, the smaller room was just exquisite and I would’ve been just as happy there. The balcony with flowers was just beautiful in the smaller room. We travel a lot and this is one of the few places that we would definitely want to visit again just to relive the views, food and service. Beautiful!
We had the pleasure of having an early dinner with wine here. The two kitchens were very nice that we can't produce such thin pizza in England. The staff was excellent and very knowledgeable.
We had on 28. February 2022 an à la cart dinner booked in the restaurant and had a nice greeting. The wood-paneled dining room with Candelabra is very attractive. The menu is quite short what I think is a good sign, and we ordered... starter and net. We were brought an amuse brooch of a mascaron with geese liver mousse, which was really interesting and tasty, but took a small bite, our starters came almost at the same time. This seemed a bit strange and more pampered the joy of macaron. My appetizer from lobster bisque was beautiful, but my husband's salad was overwhelming. When the net arrived, my husband's calf was completely cold and it was a minute or two before we could attract the attention of the staff and send back to the kitchen. There was no offer to take my main course away from "wild cauliflower" (is that one thing? so that we could both eat at the same time. When my husband returned the main thing, “with the sincere apologies of the cook”, probably about 10 minutes later, I had completely eaten. That's what she left with a dilemma, whether to clear my record or leave. In case they left it for a while and then deleted while my husband continued with his head. His re served meat was up to the temperature and he finished the dish, although it was rather lacking in a suitable yarn. Then we ordered an ice cream and a coffee. We sat on a partition with very large beautiful candelabra ca. 60 cm high. The waitress pressed behind chairs, which served another group on the table on the other side of the partition, and knocked them so that a candle (fortunately unilluminated came down to our table. The candelabra itself dried perile if it had fallen, we would have been shaken with broken glass from the contents of our table. There was a small apology that could be cursed so easily with weak praise. When the bill came, we were of course interested in seeing what adjustment was made. This time not even weak praise. Was a little sweetheart on the bill? If you count two cooked candy, yes, otherwise not as much as a single coffee has been taken off. We don't expect us to come back soon.
