Penny Royal Wine Bar and Restaurant

Expensive food and underwhelming. My poor lamb was crucified and a steak knife couldn't even cut through it. Salmon was too salty to enjoy it and the desserts were again overpriced for what you get. Disappointing.

Tonight we decided to have a date night. We were pleased we chose here. Lovely atmosphere until big table got a little loud but that was later in the night. We loved the oysters Kilpatrick to share. We decided on the share dinner of cashew chicken , What a beautiful little share plate cooked well. We were lingering full but decided to have a dessert platter for 1 to share. Wow wow wow it was enough for 2 with a struggle but absolutely delicious. Our waiter was excellent thank you Daniel for your perfect service. All in all a fantastic dinner which was very much needed. We highly recommend trying this beautiful place for dinner.

We had breakfast there and would not recommend the scrambled eggs they were very salty and mushy. Toast was only just cooked but bacon was lovely coffee could of been hotter. Service was lovely good view and lovely and clean.

We came with visiting family from interstate and this was an embarrassing lunch out after a pleasant morning visit to Launceston. First off we were greeted with uncleared tables upon entry, one of which was cleared for us after we asked to be seated there, the other large table remained uncleaned. Although the interior of the restaurant has a good presentation and decor, it did not live up to its looks. Service was slow and not overly friendly; poor and overpriced menu; poor presentation of meals; only salt offered was in a dish, with customers having to use fingers to pinch out salt - not very hygienic... As the waitress placed the cutlery, she gave us napkins with stains, that looked like it came from a different table and one of the knifes was dirty with fresh oil marks on it. The grilled fish of the day consisted of 3 small, oily pieces of ordinary fish with a pathetic amount of chips, aioli and no side salad for 25$. I can't believe it's so hard to get fresh fish on an island! The Chicken panini was awful, the pizza very basic, but the children enjoyed their large bowl of chips for 7$. Needless to say we skipped dessert...

We attended a 21st birthday celebratory evening meal at this venue. From the moment we walked through door the greeting was pleasant and welcoming. The staff were very obliging and the service was excellent.The meals were of a very high standard and reasonably priced. I could not fault the service the meal or the venue.
