Gordon & Grace Chinese Restaurant

I had a fantastic dining experience and will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

We have never eaten in the restaurant although we have seen it quite full at times. We have had takeaway from here a few times and keep going back. Yhey do everything well and eill cater for unusual requests, we have fussy kids. A little expensive but worth the treat.

I did a takeaway today for my office colleagues. Ordered Nasi Goreng, Singapore Noodles, Chicken and Veg, Seafood Combination.All the dishes were flavourful without being heavy on the salt and msg (I didn't get the profound thirst I usually get with other establishments). What impressed me too were that the rice remained in individual light fluffy grains AND everything was not swimming in a pool of oil.Gordon looks after the kitchen and his wife Grace runs the front of house. I would be happy going back to support this lovely senior couple.Be mindful that they are not open every day for lunch. Check their hours before you go.

Takeaway last night - the worst I have had. Used to always get takeaway from Gordon and Grace before they left Somerville years ago. Went a few months back for special fried rice which was only just ok. Spend $57 last night and so disappointed. The food was very bland. Steak and Black bean with huge pieces of chewy meat and absolutely no flavour. Watery tasting satay chicken skewers with a smear of very mild satay sauce and steamed? chicken, a half filled container of sweet pork (entree - probably the 2nd best item after the prawn crackers), bland watery combination sweet n sour, special fried rice and the smallest of the large spring rolls I have ever seen. Definitely wont be going back not even for a free feed.
