Bidrage med feedbackVisited 14th of February with my partner and my parents for a family valentines meal. We’ve been coming to the George and Dragon for years but haven’t been since before Covid so thought it’d be a nice change. It really was as good as always and so lovely to have hearty home made meals, considering one chef works alone you really really can’t complain, he doesn’t fantastic job! The food is hot, tasty, filling and overall just 10/10. The pub itself it’s a little outdated but we think this adds to the character of the place, as long as you’re not materialistic or snobby you’ll appreciate the quirk The lady behind the bar who I’m assuming is the owner/landlord was lovely so I’m not entirely sure what the previous review is on about, she welcomed us and showed us to our table, even making space for our two dogs (dog friendly). Any time after that we spoke to her she was accommodating and always smiley. The young blonde girl waiting on was a lovely server and a great addition to the place, really polite and friendly. Such a homely, traditional pub and great value for money: 3 starters, 4 mains, 1 side dish, 2 desserts, 3 cokes, 2 pints and a bottle of wine all for just over £100, bargain! We will definitely be coming again thank you!
Very unfriendly landlady. Not banter, no smiles, food ok, presentation lets it down. The only good thing I can say is the young lad serving. I think his name is George.
Amazing home cooked food in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. A lovely small village pub on the main street in Wray. We came in during the scarecrow festival and had a quick bite but also wanted to experience the village life when the village was not as busy. (Scarecrow week is really busy when the world descends on the village don’t let the other reviews put you off as they paint a blinkered picture! . So we visited the following week too and had a lovely afternoon, finished off with a nice gammon and chips. My wife was undecided about her choice so the landlady recommended the Salmon and it was well received. Great recommendation and we’ll be going back next time we are in the area. The beer garden looks stunning in the sun, and the aviary will keep the kids busy too!
Just had a lovely family time round the Wray scarecrows festival with our dogs. Wanted to go somewhere to eat so went to George and Dragon since it is dog friendly. Began in the beer garden but moved inside. No sooner had we sat down than one of the bar staff came over said are you eating, before we could answer she removed the dining implements. Never felt so unwelcome so we finished our drinks and left. Not an experience we will repeat at that pub!
We had a wonderful meal here. We had lamb Henry and scampi both were gorgeous with proper homemade chips. Very good value for money. Highly recommend.
