Bidrage med feedbackI used to love this bakery in the past. Their coffee was exceptional, and their cakes were among the best in the city. The St Clements cake was especially delicious. However, I have noticed over the years that their prices have been steadily increasing while the quality has been decreasing. As a result, I stopped going there. Yesterday after work, I decided to visit their shop in Waterloo in need of a sweet treat after a stressful week. I only purchased a pecan brownie as none of the other cakes appealed to me. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The brownie was dry and crumbly, with large chunks of bitter chocolate. It seemed like there was an excess of cocoa, and the chocolate was overpowering. The pecans were hardly noticeable as they were only lightly sprinkled on top. I suspected that the brownie was past its expiration date, so I ended up throwing it away. Considering the high price, which was much more expensive than other shops, it was definitely not worth it.
I stumbled upon this cake shop on a side street near Waterloo while looking for parking. I was thrilled because I had just mentioned to my husband that I was craving cake! The window display was enticing and the variety inside the shop was very tempting. They had red velvet cakes, carrot cakes, different types of brownies, and selection boxes. The prices for full size cakes were quite high, but they offered smaller versions or slices for a lower price. I ended up purchasing a small Curly Wurly cake and it was absolutely delicious! Although they may be pricey, the quality of their cakes is worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this shop for anyone with a sweet tooth. P.S. I did not dine in.
For a bakery company that portrays itself as artisan, it is very disappointing that the plastic packaging supplied with mince pies, cakes, etc, is made of the worst kind of non-recyclable plastic. This description/opinion is not mine it comes from staff at the Lambeth...Recycling Centre to whom I showed it. Also, the labels on Konditor's plastic boxes do not point out that the material is non-recyclable.
Not what you expect to find in a back street by Waterloo station but we'll worth finding. I'm not a great cake eater but the selection and presentation tempted me. Not a cheap place but the quality is top notch.
Being a sweet lover i had to have a taste of London’s sweet cakes. I was visiting London, having a tour at the different food markets on the weekends that they have. On our tour of Borough Market, after a savoury meal, i was recommended...a little shop called Konditor Cook. We took a slice of the infamous Curly Whirly Cake. Now i know that gluttony is a sin, but having just one bite of the glazing and sponge of heavens taste made me want to devour the whole slice. Alas i shared it with my company and each bite was taken in carefully and in calculation of all the feelings the flavours gave. I know it is not new to most, but for me it was a new doorway to better taste
