The French Press - Lafayette

We had the croque monsieur with potato salad. The herbed aioli with the creamy Gruyère cheese on the sandwich was amazingly smooth and flavorful, and the flavor of the bacon and scallion potato salad was like eating a creamy twice baked potato. Great quality but the restaurant is very loud and a bit more attention could be paid to cleanliness of the menus, bathroom, and floors. We were also slightly disappointed that a brunch place called the French press only had drip coffee, no specialties.

The food service was very slow. But that day was out of the ordinary. A cook quit and walked out on them. Needless to say it took an extra long time for our meals to arrive. BUT our server was outstanding. She was kind, apologetic and attentive. We were a large group of 11 as well. The cuisine was good that day. Some items were excellent, others were ordinary. All said and done I would definitely go back because of the staff that attended to us. I wish I remembered her name! Beautiful eyes, da … – show

The Sweet Baby Breesus was amazing. Lightly fried boudin with bacon on a perfect biscuit. Tried the compote on the French toast. It was great

It’s been a while since I’ve been to The French Press so I was looking forward to my old favorite, the Cajun Benedict, and it didn’t disappoint. As a rule, I prefer a dark gumbo so this hits the spot for me. This visit, however, I tried it with fried shrimp over the top. Not bad but I think I like it better without. We had a Sweet Baby Breesus for an appetizer and I was pleasantly surprised. Will need to try this again in the future. That and the Praline Bacon. All in all, a very nice visit.

Cool little breakfast joint. The server was new but she was very nice and did a great job even though she seemed nervous. Both of us had the breakfast sandwich and it was great! The grits were very good as well. We dont get grits in Az so i had to get them while i can. The ice coffee cocktail was super solid too! Breakfast for $59 for two was well worth it. Go ahead and give this place a try.
