El Castell - la Seu d'Urgell

The hotel is ok, but the restaurant is a huge disappointment. We went here for a short holiday to relax with good food and relaxation. They advertise with 2 restaurants but only keep one open, even during high season. The pictures on the website are gorgeous but unfortunately in reality its a big disappointment. The food was boring and no effort spent on the taste or presentation. The waiters were all unexperienced and didn't have a clue about service. We ordered a starter with tuna, that sounded interesting, and got a very plain tasteless dish of non ripe tomato cut in big wedges, with tuna from a tin, slashed on top. The main was a fish dish, plain and no spices or taste. All in all a huge dissapointment. I would never recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic staff ambience, upgraded us to a fabulous room with a view to die for! It's a castle alright, made me feel like a queen I've not even been here 1 day. I'm really look of forward to the rest of the week. What a wonderful anniversary it's been so far!

Staff is great. Location is superb. Rooms might not be the most modern, but facilities are nice. The Fine Dining Restaurant is also very nice. All in all a great place to spend a weekend or some time away from city rush.

Pretentious and patronizing front desk staff coupled with outdated amenities and questionable facilities. The Michelin rated restaurant features an aggressive somelier who openly and unapologetically downgrades the service for customers who do not purchase expensive enough wine we witnessed him directing appetizers intended for our table towards another table that ordered later but who appeared to be VIPs. Given that there were only four tables occupied the night we visited, this seemed petty and rude. It took us a full two and a half hours from seating to dessert, and the dishes were uniformly subpar they clearly assumed that we were second class patrons and so we received third tier food. I would recommend this restaurant and hotel to no one.
