Bistro Rutherford - La Pêche

Weekend drive through the lovely Gatineau Hills brought us to Wakefield and this bistro for lunch. Kind of a “Bar Rescue” vibe inside but their offerings were fresh and reasonably priced; all meat offerings are smoked so that permeates the menu. Bar not open so very limited beverage choices -basically just water or pop. Our pulled pork, burger and rib plates were tender and tasty and reasonably priced. Great view of the lake, covered bridge, and hills across the lake. Server was friendly, efficient and laid back. Jamie the WonderDog chills out and greets you at the entrance. The defunct Wakefield Steam Train has taken the wind out of Wakefield’s sails since I was last here, as there are many businesses worth a visit in this charming, rustic village. Accessibility: couple steps at the entrance and you have to wend your way through the bar area to the standard washroom stalls. Live music on weekends.

We had lunch here. Its not fancy but the view is great from the patio. The food and service are also great. Consider stopping here.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch while in Wakefield for the weekend. He got the nachos which were quite bland. We split a poutine which had way too much gravy and I also had the Garlic Burger which was surprisingly lacking flavour. Our waiter was also not very attentive, as we ran out of water but did not see him again until he brought our bill. He was, however, very friendly! The view from the patio was lovely on a nice day.

If you enjoy simple yet flavorful dishes, I highly recommend this restaurant. The service is quick and the view is absolutely gorgeous.

I suspect the main source of business is people from the pub in the other half of the building. The place is pretty beat and lacking in all amenities. My elbow got stuck to the table while waiting for my meal, it clearly needs a wipe down. The pulled pork was good but beyond that, meh... good food after a few beers if you’re in the pub but otherwise I can’t see returning
