Guachinche La Cernidera - La Orotava

The food is very good. We had ensaladille, tomate aliñero, croqutas atun y spinac. The service is also very good and prices are afordable.

I love this place, very cosy, excellent food and service. Great red wine and wood fire barbecued pork chops. small parking but plenty of spaces nearby. Very well priced.

Guachinches are definitely worth seeking out, this one is based around an outside parillada, with inside and outside tables. Meat on the parillada is the main attraction here but there are lots of other choices on the menu too; stuffed mushrooms, watercress stew, tomato salad. We chose tuna croquettes and spinach parcels which were great followed by pescado encebollado (a traditional salted cherne fish dish) for me and a pork chop for my partner. Guachinches have menus with no prices on, so it is hard to judge how big portions will be, portions here are huge, the pork chop was massive and so was my fish dish. We also had wine and water and our dishes came with potatoes and chips. Chap running this place was a bit grumpy at first, not letting us sit at the only available outside table because it was for 4 people not just two, making us sit inside to eat. He changed his mind though about 5 mins later and let us have the table! Food is very good here, especially if you love grilled meat, only thing we didn’t like were the tiny cages with birds in them, especially positioned near the parillada with all the smoke coming off it. No bill here either we were just told it was €30 which for everything we had and the size of the portions was amazing value.
