Bidrage med feedbackDuring our visit to La Jolla, we were excited to dine at a Thai restaurant that was once a favorite of ours in the past: Royal Thai, now known as Chedi Bistro. However, our experience at the restaurant was far from enjoyable. The establishment appeared attractive at first glance but was poorly maintained, giving off a shabby and uninspired vibe. Despite having a reservation, we were initially told there were no available tables, even though there were clearly open ones. It took ten minutes before we received any attention, and only after my husband requested some water from the man at the front desk. It seemed like we didn't have a designated server, as we had to ask for everything throughout our meal, with no one checking in on us. We had to ask for the check long after we had finished eating. The food was decent but not memorable, and the service was practically non-existent, with clueless servers. The kitchen appeared disorganized, as not all our dishes arrived at the same time. It was evident that the staff did not care about the well-being of their guests. It is regrettable to say that our experience was disappointing, prompting me to leave this review in hopes of warning others about the lackluster service at Chedi Bistro.
The Thai food scene in San Diego is lacking, and this restaurant was average compared to others. The menu seemed too Americanized for my taste, as I was hoping for more spicy dishes. The steamed mussels appetizer was nothing special, and seemed like they were previously frozen. However, my green curry entree with rice was good. The dessert, fried bananas wrapped in wonton wrappers, was disappointing as they were lukewarm and chewy, not crispy. The service was lacking, as our server dropped off the check without a thank you or smile. Overall, the restaurant is pricier than other Thai options, so next time I'll stick to the more authentic hole in the wall spots I'm accustomed to.
I was fortunate to choose this restaurant for lunch during my visit to La Jolla. The Thai food here is some of the best I have ever had. It is flavorful, appropriately spicy - a welcome change from the toned-down, bland Thai dishes I have had in the past. The prices are great too, making it a fantastic value. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others.
The ambiance is nice, the service friendly but disorganized. We waited too long for ordering and food and beverages. Some of the dishes were tasty while others left much to be desired. Too expensive for Thai food!
We were happy to visit La jolla with Thai food, in a restaurant that was once one of our favorites: royal thai, now chedi bistro. the restaurant could be attractive, but it is not well kept and looks a bit shady and tedious. from beginning to end, it was a catastrophe. we had a reservation, but when we arrived, they said there was no table, although there were obviously some open. we have not received any attention for the first ten minutes until my man asked the man on the writing for something water. we did not seem to have a certain server. a young woman came once and apologized for waiting for that. Apart from this high point, we had to ask for everything, and no one checked with us how we did it. long after we finished, we had to ask for the check. the food was in order, nothing unforgettable, but pleasant. the service was not present, and the servers were clear. the kitchen seemed slow and deorganized, and not all food came at the same time. they don't seem to care about their guests at all. this is a shame and inspired me unfortunately to write this critique to protect others from a disappointing experience.
