Kiosk - La Garde-Freinet

A delicious meal, all home cooked, excellent service, would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, we will be back, possibly tomorrow!

This is a small restaurant but with a varied menu. The service was good at the beginning of the meal and the waiter was extremely pleasant but as the restaurant became busier service took longer. The waiter remained in good humour but at times appeared flustered. The menu de jour was 26€ which was good value for three courses, although the main course required that we order additional fries. Not really anything to fault, but not much to rave about either!

Small restaurant, service ok as long as you are not in a hurry, would need more staff if restaurant was busy, reasonable choice of menus, plat de jour choice of fish or pintade, and choice of 1, 2 or 3 plats. Main fish course with pasta which unfortunately I do not like, when I asked could I have frites instead, told no. This is unlike most French restaurants who usually have no problem making the change, shame. Serve excellent pichets.

We stopped at the Kiosk for lunch on the Fete de la Chataigne weekend. The regular menu was displayed as well as a smaller menu. We could not tell that the restaurant was only serving 1 menu that day. When the waitress told us, we asked a few questions as I did not like mushrooms and the appetizer was a mushroom dish. The we heard the cook say, "C'est la Fete de la Chataigne avec un menu unique, alors ne venez pas nous faire chier les couilles," which translates to, "It is the Chestnut Faire with a single menu, so do not come and break our balls." Except that the expression he used is very rude. I explained that we had not seen the menu unique since his regular menu was displayed. He kept being rude and inappropriate, so we left. The waitress came outside and apologized. I cannot comment on the food obviously, but the chef's attitude was totally inappropriate. There was only 1 table occupied in the restaurant.I am French, and this was the worst service I have seen in many, many years.
