Rubio's Coastal Grill - La Costa

Great chain. Sadly, this location is poorly managed. Went to pick up a to-go order and had to wait 15-mins even though it was done and waiting. There was a kid who looked like he was 15 taking orders who took more than 5 minutes to take a single order. There was an employee on break who could have handed us our order but walked by and sat in the dining room on his phone. Finally 15 minutes later a woman appeared and handed us our now cold order. She was clueless that we were waiting.

One of the few places you can get good food under $10

The customer service at this location was amazing. There was an older gentleman in a wheelchair, and he took forever ..... to place his order, had a lot of mix ups, questions, kind changes, and a line built up behind him (including me) waiting for him to make it through his order. They were so patient, kind, and understanding towards him. They were helpful, and answered his questions, making suggestions, and were truly kind. I am really proud of the cashier foe taking the time to show individual attention towards him. When he finally went to be seated, she even apologized to me for the delay, and I told her absolutely no problem.I love Rubios and their beer battered fish tacos. The only issue I had with the food quality is the portion size of the fish in the tacos seems to have shrunk, or, I just got small pieces on this day for some reason. Foe my gourmet shrimp taco, which is a bit on the high side price wise, I only had 4 small shrimp in my taco, which is very stingy in my opinion. I used to get pretty packed tacos in the past. Hoping it was a fluke and not the new norm, as I definitely don 't plan on stopping by for a visit

Really good deals from 12-2pm for lunch. Service is fast vibe is usually different everyday.

I used to absolutely love Rubio's, but have been disappointed lately. The cost of the food has gone up while the size and quality has gone down. For some reason they charge more for a kid taco (no sides) than a regular taco. The burritos were shriveled and not labeled to differentiate the different flavors. The limes in the salsa bar were dedicated, barely having any juice. All in all a very disappointing experience.
