Big curry shop. I like it especially that they offer a small plate. Each dish is to be ordered carefully, so you must be patient and wait for your order - this is not CoCos fast. Make sure the egg jump on your curry! They also serve coke in a glass bottle! They are very strict on mask clothing. You can't remove your mask until your food comes to the table. We removed our masks when our drinks arrived at the table and were immediately asked to put them back until the food arrived.

Amazing curry very tasty and obviously boiled with passion. The addition of the pickles makes it 6 stars in my opinion. Great friendly service!

Curry is taste like authentic Indian made and chicken is very tasty, flavourful and tender. Curry taste are actually closer to Indian origin despite the Japanese curry tag.

I will add more when I go back. This is the best curry I’ve ever had by such a huge margin it’s insane. When I look for restaurants, I tend to avoid restaurants where their location and demographic does not require greatness for success. So I don’t typically go for things on the obviously beaten path. Unless of course I stop and spend 5-15+ minutes trying to find out where that absolutely insane, incredible smell is coming from because I have to know. This is that place. I made six Instagram stories with a complete breakdown of all the ingredients and flavors in this dish and how they made me feel, complete with a steaming curry video. Imho, this place has achieved greatness. The atmosphere was brilliant. The food selection and menu organization was completely on point, and it was everything you wish every restaurant did. It was clearly made by people who get it on every possible level. Like they must watch restaurant shows. They even had spray for your clothes as you left that seems deliberately complimentary with the fragrances of popular haircare products you smell on the streets of Japan. It’s like you remember when you found out about the “you pick two” for the first time? Combine that with the swirling nostalgia feeling of thinking about playing Pokémon red/blue outside as a kid, and that’s what eating here for the first time reminded me of. I invited a friend from the states whose favorite food is curry to come to Japan with me next time to try this restaurant because it was that good. I wrote a long message about how the food made me feel and google translated it and asked it to be shown to the chef, who like legit I think we both almost cried. Imho, the international food in Japan is pushing the limits of human achievement. I don’t know if it’s something about Japanese food culture, a competitive market, a desire to constantly improve things with sense of depth and balance, or if they’re just like the nicer version of what I always assumed France would be like. But needless to say, this is one of my favorite culinary experiences in not just all of Japan, but the world, and that is saying something. To be honest, I wasn’t even like a “curry person” until now. I’ve dated people who love curry and was like “ok because I love you, let’s get curry,” but I always secretly dragged my feet. I can now list curry as one of my favorite foods because of this restaurant. It’s an absolute life changing meal, no exaggeration. Every restaurant I’ve been to since then, I’ve had to actually like take pause and convince myself to go somewhere new instead of back for more glorious curry trifecta. There is a teriyaki place in Seattle I would take 3 busses to get to it was so good. That I have gone back to Seattle just to eat. As the Shinkansen exists here, if I was anywhere else in Japan, I would definitely come to Kyoto just to have more of this curry. This is the standard by which I have uncategorically judged every meal I’ve had in Japan. If I sold tires, they would get stars.
