Bidrage med feedbackWe hadn't been here for years when it was a very dour old pub that you just wanted to get out of fast! The place has had a complete makeover and was packed on the Saturday evening we visited-had we not had a booking we would have struggled to get a table either inside or out.First the good things. It's got great views out over the Hawkesbury lowlands and beyond and the staff were very friendly and efficient in seating us and advising of waiting times and where to get our drinks ( there is no table service for either drinks or food other than the food brought to the table after ordering at the bistro counter). The decor is a bit above the average you would expect at a pub and the indoor seating area is surrounded by large glass panels that make the most of the views. The menu is reasonably extensive and should cater for most tastes including some limited vegetarian and gluten free options. The food is fairly expensive for a pub bistro at around $25-30 for main sized courses, particularly as the quality of the food we shared amongst the 4 of us fell well short of what we expected. The vegetarian bake was very average and the pizza just a bit better. The bugs ( looked more like scampie than Morton bay bugs) we good but a very small portion. The bruschetta consisted of some tomato paste spread with some unidentified herbs sprinkled on top-probably the worst version I've ever sampled. It took is around 20 minutes waiting in line to place our order and then another 30 minutes for the food to arrive-just not good enough of they want people to return. We had heard some good reports and were hoping it was the real deal as there are few good dining options in the Hawkesbury-sadly it didn't live up to expectations and it's unlikely we will be back anytime soon
This is one of Sydney's lesser known secrets. A great destination for lunch or dinner. The pub is in a commanding position atop Kurrajong with majestic outlook across the Sydney Basin. Even the city skyline is evident 70km away. The drive up from Richmond is delightful. Its a simple bistro style setup with indoor and outdoor seating where everyone gets a view. An indoor sports bar is adjacent. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The food choices are predictable and the servings generous. A wider dessert menu would be nice though. We have been here many times and will happily return. Don't tell others about it though, best keep it a secret for ourselves!
We stopped at Kurrajong Heights Hotel as part of our romantic weekend away. It was FANTASTIC! Not only was the food delicious but the service from Amber, Alicia and Peter was outstanding. All were super friendly, helpful and welcoming! Thank you so much, we will be back!
We were recommended his place by hotel near by as the best place to eat in the local area and they were right. The food was great, clean and super tasty. We had the kids chicken nuggets and they were made from real chicken. All the food is prep'd onsite and made freshly. The overall taste of the food was excellent. It's a must do if you are in the area..
I read mixed reviews, but I can confirm that this place has been done up nicely since new management took over. The decor in side is lovely, the outdoor seating area is great and is dog friendly. They have a great beer selection and have FOX Sports. The menu had a great variety of food which was lovely and the staff were friendly. I would definitely go back there if I'm in the area. I had also recommended it to some of the locals who had not tried it since new management took over.
