Rakuzen Plaza Arkadia - Kuala Lumpur

Surprisingly the service in this branch is much faster and responsive than the one at Waterfront. How can this be? Food is good too although I didn’t try the tempura udon thanks to the aweful experience I had at waterfront. Anyway, the dining experience was ruined by the table beside us chatting loudly via a video call. Ppl, use your brain and be considerate.

There were several Japanese restaurants in Arcadia and we finally chose the more familiar name Rakuzen which have many outlets all over Malaysia. The place is not very big and has different areas to suit different groups of customers. There’s also an upper floor area which I never been presumably for bigger groups. Anyway the food menu was largely similar and prices too. We ordered the sake oyako zen set which was good value at Rm39 with sides of chawanmushi, miso soup, fruits salad, with 3 slices of salmon 2 slices of salmon belly and egg roe. My daughter ordered the beef Yakiniku zen and she loves it. Overall we feel Rakuzen has maintained its food standards and prices quite well.

My daughter booked this place for lunch with my step daughter on 29 Dec 2022 for 12 noon. We wanted a room but we could not because it was not ready so were a little disappointed with the noise. Service was a little slow with the lack of staff. Food quality was average but being a heavy eater, portion was small. Pricing was high. The taste was just average, nothing outstanding. However food was authentic but since the wasabi was made earlier, it was not spicy enough. The tuna doesn't look fresh. We also didn't like the idea of sharing the sauces. The cloth towels were not thoroughly cleaned as they were found to be dirty. It would have been better to serve wet paper towels instead. So check your towels before using, if you are there.

Good service and nice presentation. The manager is very friendly and attentive. Salmon sashimi is fresh but please don’t reduce in thickness. The grilled salmon is a little over-grilled and therefore the meat is dry. It is advisable to book in advance for the weekend to avoid the queue. For ambience, very much preferred another branch due to the layout. The good thing is there are many private rooms available upstairs.
