Bidrage med feedbackFormerly known as Chandragupt, China Bistro, located bang opposite Shiv Sena Bhavan, is one of the best known eateries specializing in Chinese cuisine in Dadar-Shivaji Park area. We dropped in here for lunch, and decided to try out their fixed menu. Offering choices in soups, starters, mains and desserts, as well as one complimentary round of mocktail or beer, this seemed to be an interesting choice as opposed to the usual a la carte. We skipped the soup, since it was only the Sweet Corn Soup (veg and chicken variants), something you'll get pretty much anywhere. We opened our innings with Lemon Iced Tea, and Sangria Basil Iced Tea, the former was okay, nothing special, but the latter was (a mocktail) simply superb, almost as good as the genuine alcoholic sangria. Amongst the starters the first one was Cottage Cheese Jiang Chilli, which is paneer in chilli gravy, and it set the tone for the rest of the meal, the paneer being wonderfully soft, and the gravy being perfectly spicy. Next was Pan Fried Chilli Fish, pomfret in chilli sauce and it was simply wow. My brother who's not much into seafood couldn't get enough of it, and that makes it a must-have. Up next was the Red Dragon Chicken, it looks like the usual crispy chicken pieces but is quite soft, I found it to be average, not much to write home about. The final starter was the Chicken and Coriander Dim Sum, one of the recommendations here. The outer layer was quite thin, the way I like it, and the chicken was beautifully cooked, dim sum lovers need to sample this for sure. For the mains we started with Corn, Potato and Water Chestnut Tsing Hoi gravy with Ginger Capsicum Veg Rice, both were ordinary, not exactly tasteless but not particularly yummy either. Up next was Kowloon Pot Chicken with Chicken Fried Rice, and while the rice was okay, not having much of chicken, the gravy was really nice, having flat slabs of meat, I quite liked this one. The last of the mains was Prawns in Black Bean Sauce with Wok Tossed Chicken Hakka Noodles, and this was by far the best of the mains. The prawns were a delight, the dark sauce was excellent and the noodles were nice too, not too wheat-y as sometimes is the case, I strongly recommend this one. We wrapped up our meal with Caramel Custard for dessert, and it gets a double thumbs up from me. The caramel was neither overpowering nor too sweet and the custard was just spot on, taste wise as well as texture wise. To sum up then, China Bistro has more hits than misses, you need to be slightly choosy with what you order. The fixed menu is way more economical than a la carte, without compromising on quality or quantity, so definitely an option to consider.
Right opposite to busy street of Sena Bhavan, Dadar, at Shivaji Park junction. Polite staff and service was quick. They have large seating area and flexible to make corner area for large family gathering. They have daily buffet at attractive price and Saturday /Sunday brunch. We had a great time!!!

So Lets have a glimpse of what all i tasted Mocktail : Blue heart A sweet and tangy taste which was made up of fruit juice , some sweet sour mix and presented beautifully ! Mandarin Basil Caipiroska A very refreshing drink and an energetic cooler but Tangy tangy tangy. It was more of tangy taste and was not much sweet taste. Presented in a jug shaped glass with some ice basil leaves this got my sleepy eyes into a bright mood. Sangria basil iced tea Everyone is aware of iced tea. This drink is quite common at many of the restaurants so this wasnt something new to try there. Coconut lychee mocker Best drink I had here. Believe me. The sweetness of this drink will just transform your mood into happiness. A sweet drink presented with a big lychee over it with and made of lychee syrup with some flavouring of coconut in the drink. Starter : Korean barbequed chicken Chicken pieces in a stick grilled with black pepper sauce and spices by the chef served along with hasselback potato. Cheese prawn Tempura Huge Size Tempura Prawns buttered and stuffed with cheese served with their special dynamite sauce. A delicacy here to try which may enhance your taste buds Three lung har gau Dimsums made with Squid Ink black coloured skin which are stuffed with prawns, water, chestnut, steamed and made using the Chinese spices. I personally was disappointed by the taste of this dish as i was not able to get the stuffing. The prawns were micro in size and I couldn't identity the other ingredients too. Main course : Steamed fish fillet The most recommended dish by China Bristo. Fish fillet of Basa steamed using the sauce of your choice Chilli basil Pickled Chilli . I selected the Chilli Basil which was a bit spicy. Served along with the gravy with steamed fillets which was worth trying there Fried rice chicken Visiting a Chinese restaurant and not trying their Fried Rice is no less then a sin. They serve fried rice of good quality and quantity. Dessert : Chocolate Tsunami : Heaven for chocolate lovers. A chocolate mousse with a plate of chocolate over it, pouring the chocolate sauce on the top of it which makes overloading of chocolate leading to Tsunami . Yea this is true. Chocolate flowing down the plate and making your salivary glands more active to taste it more eagerly. Sizzling Chocolate Brownie Out of the menu!. Everyone is quite familiar with this dessert. A huge piece of chocolate brownie with a large scoop of icecream with drizzling chocolate sauce over it made it drool worthy to taste. So My personal recommendation are : Mocktails : Blue Heart Coconut Lychee Mocker Starters : Cheese Butter Prawns Main Course : Steamed Fish Fillet Chicken Fried Rice Desserts : Chocolate Tsunami. Rating : Service Ambience Food
