Lannathai - Köln

Unfortunately needed to wait very long until they have asked what we would like to drink or order. Dishes were rather small and my colleague has been very ill of the beef. Food poisening is to be avoided when you are exhibiting in the messe.

As we live not far from this place, we have already tried the delivery service as well as the dinner there. The atmosphere is nice - also for business lunch/dinner. You can take the traditional table where you actually sit on the carpet. We tried some different food already and all was good. The staffs could also understand some English and German.

I have often been to this restaurant for basic Thai food. In particular, they offer a very good value lunch time option with several dishes to choose from. The food is beautifully presented with sculptured vegetables, with lots of al dente veggies and delicious sauces. The duck and prawns are particularly good. The decor is typically Thai and very attractive. There are proper tablecloths and napkins as well as flowers on the tables. The service is attentive and pleasant.It can be reached by tram number 1 from Cologne

I admit, eating Thai on Cologne sounds a bit out of place. But if you like it, Lannathai is a good option for Thai food. Service is kind, food is good, price is acceptable. What more do you want. If you are close by, drop in. But if you are in central Cologne, don´t spend 15 Euro to get there.

There are many Thai restaurants in Cologne. None of them is outstanding. It seems that they all copy each others menu so you never find authentic or original dishes. This one is no exception. On most nights, the food is ok. Just as you know it from most other places. It looks like there is a high turnover in staff. Hence there are good nights and not so good nights. Amongst the guests, you can spot some local celebrities on some nights. The parking is generally ok. If you leave before midnight, you can park at the supermarket across the street for free (except for Sundays when you can park on the street just outside).
