Sanya Sushi Japanese Chinese Cuisine

Food and service were great, until the end. We had three families (me and my wife and each of our 2 sons and their wives) so we had 3 checks. My youngest son left a tip on his card. My wife and I left a cash tip to cover our meal and my oldest son's meal. The waiter came over and asked my oldest son hadn't left a tip. He told him we left enough for both. They seemed very displeased and came back 2 more times to ask about the tip. It was very off-putting. Note: the tip was between 15 20% for both meals.

I've tried sushi at many places over the years, and I must say that Sanya might just serve the best sushi I've ever tasted. We ordered several rolls to share, and the standout was the Christmas Roll, which was packed with a variety of seafood. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, taking care of all our needs without us having to ask. While Sanya leans towards the more expensive side of sushi, the exceptional flavors and excellent service make it worth every penny.

The food was enjoyable overall. The hibachi steak and chicken, along with the fresh vegetables, were great, but I wasn't a fan of the white sauce. The sushi was tasty as well. However, the spring rolls lacked flavor.

We have been coming to OBX for YEARS, and now live here never ate here until today. Why? The name...one of us eats sushi, the other does not so we never looked beyond the road sign where is says Sushi Bar . Very much our loss.Very nice on the side, and larger then I expected. The service was polite, friendly, prompt, and fast without being pushy. They have what i would call a a pretty typical asian cuisine type menu. Servings are HUGE, well prepared, HOT temperature wise, and very good.As to the sushi, I did get the Yellowtail Jalapeno sushi which was good but not great (that said I am an admitted sushi snob and really only like nigiri style which this was not).Would we eat here again 100% yes without question.

I always have a good meal here. Pricing is good for the area, especially at lunch. Service is good. Clean area and bathroom. I have gotten a couple rolls of sushi each time and have never been disappointed.
