Bidrage med feedbackLocated just off Victoria Square in Hull city centre, Caffè Nero is perfectly positioned for a relaxing coffee break. During our midweek visit, the café was not too crowded, allowing us to enjoy a cozy window table with comfortable leather seats. The quality of the coffees and service lived up to our expectations of Caffè Nero. Overall, it was a pleasant experience to sit back and watch the world go by.
The service was good, and the coffee was enjoyable, but I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the restaurant. I should have known when I saw the dirty glass door upon entry, and the floors and tables were not clean. The toilets and entrance to the toilets were disgusting, so my party ultimately left and used the council facilities at Victoria Square. I doubt I will return, even to see if there have been any improvements, especially considering the current circumstances. It is unfortunate to leave a negative review, but the lack of cleanliness is unacceptable.
The restaurant is now serving drinks in single-use cardboard cups and customers are encouraged to clear their own tables, presumably due to COVID-19. However, it is strange that only one disabled toilet was open, which was in need of a good cleaning with no toilet paper available and an empty soap dispenser laying on its side. This is concerning, especially during a time when the advice is to wash hands with soap and hot water. It seems that Cafe Nero is selectively following certain procedures.
Love my strong coffee so this place is ideal. Actually sat outside in the sun . Lots of people around the fountains. Waited a while for my coffee but that’s normal theses days.
Thankfully we 're not tourists, because this place certainly wouldn 't give a good impression of our city. As a family, we stood at the counter waiting to be served (no queue). Two members of staff (not sure what they were doing) didn 't even acknowledge us, a smile or a we will be with you in a minute would have sufficed! After what seemed an age, we started to feel awkward, so we left and went to Costa down the road, where thankfully, we actually got a hot drink!
