Not all of them were to our taste, but the garden center itself is definitely worth a visit. While a bit on the expensive side, they have unique shrubs and plants that we ended up purchasing, as well as a good variety of decorative items for both the home and garden if you're looking to splurge. In addition, there are a couple of dining options available, including a fish restaurant and an Italian-style café that we unfortunately did not have the chance to try.
Went to Gurneys to buy some fish for lunch. Flies were crawling all over the fresh fish. It made me feel sick. The chap behind the counter was unfriendly and could not be bothered. It’s a shame because we had been there a couple of years ago and it was lovely. The fish then was amazing but definitely not now!
We stopped by to just buy some firewood, but ended up leaving with a bunch of other great finds. This store offers a variety of locally made products that are definitely worth checking out. You'll leave with more than what you came in for.
I visit this area every month for family reasons and my dog and I love walking on the beach at nearby Holme. The Drove Orchards farm shop, located to the east of Holme and west of Thornham village, offers a fantastic selection of products including meat, bakery items, and more. I especially enjoy the local honeys and tasty chutneys made by Candi, a local company. Next door is Gurneys, a great fish shop offering fresh fish like herrings and other delicious options. Behind the farm shop, there are several other good shops, a café, and Eric's fish and chips. Overall, it's a wonderful place and definitely worth a visit.
Great ice creams and vegan chocolate was amazing. Homemade lollies were amazing. Antiques shop was nice to walk around and we had lovely gin tasting at the farm shop. Lovely stop for a day out.
