Mac's Irish Pub Bistro - KILMORE

This Irish pub is great. I brought a group of friends from Melbourne for lunch and everyone enjoyed their meals. They can be hard to please, but there were no issues at all.

Trinker know, diners beware. nice pub to have a drink, ales from the hahn were nice and service at the bar very friendly. Live music was on the stage, great atmosphere. the bistro was really poor. slower service with about 20 patrons and waiters seem to have no customer service. I waited half an hour for an overpriced chicken parma. we had to sit on a table next to a stinking gentleman when they had provided other tables. I'll never be back. if they are after dinner in kilmore, they are looking for the yellow bows.

This restaurant is a bit strange. They have high chairs but no changing table or kids' menu, making it difficult to keep a toddler entertained while waiting for a meal that took 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive. The portions were huge, with the kids' meal being enough for 3 people. The food was very hot, which was better than it being cold, but I felt that the portion sizes were too big and the prices too high. The mashed potatoes were not great, but overall the food showed potential. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, with a nice firmness and crunch. The sticky date dessert was excellent, but the apple crumble was disappointing as it was runny and the topping more like a coconut biscuit. This place needs to tone it down a bit.

Homemade Food. We dined at this pub today for a meal and really enjoyed it. For me it is nice to go out and have a home cooked meal without all the normal fried food and chips. Had the Guiness Pie wow fantastic. Slow cooked and soft with mash and three steamed veg. We will be back! Staff helpful and friendly. Thank you.

Updated review: Finally received my food after a long wait. Unfortunately, the Parma was cold while the chips were hot. My wife's porterhouse steak, ordered well done, was pink and cold as well. The only redeeming factor was that the chips were hot. Lesson learned - stick to ordering just the chips. We arrived at the restaurant at 1pm and over an hour later, we still hadn't received our food. It seems like they were still trying to catch the chicken. As locals, we wanted to support the neighborhood restaurant but we were sorely disappointed. We will not be returning and won't be spending another dollar here. 01 Dec, 2012.
