American Pie Drive In

Always good! We stop here every time we are in OBX. good pizza, great homemade ice cream. Definitely a family tradition.

I worked at an ice cream store for four years my friends joke about how picky I am about my ice cream. This ice cream is probably the best I've ever had, and reasonably priced for the location. The depth of flavor and creaminess are both top notch.I personally had pistachio and strawberry, my husband got rum raisin and coffee Oreo. The coffee flavor was very strong, so beaware. I am considering going back every day this week to sample every flavor. I also got a slice of the meaty Italian pizza,and it was above average. The sausage had a nice little kick, and the amount of toppings was good. It's simply not as impressiveas the ice cream, so by comparison it gets four stars.

We had ice cream about 7pm on a Tuesday in August, didn't try the pizza. There was a long line (it's the beach), Decent flavor selection and not unusual prices. Only issue was that they messed up my order, giving me a double dish instead of the single Iasked for. I ate almost all of it anyway. I liked the chocolate and vanilla.

This place was a total nightmare. The parking lot actually wasn 't too bad but I think everyone that came in saw the drive through looking window and was expecting to do that but they were greeted with a dead end. On top of that, we have been tobusy locations everyday we have been here. This place had spots of being busy but was never that busy, on top of that the waittime to get your food was borderline ridiculous. We waited around 45 medium pineapple and pepperoni, and a medium Italianpizza. Neither one was great, all anyone could say was ok at best and I ligit feel horrible for even bringing this place up achoice for dinner. The one thing good ill say is the staff was nice... thats about it. Will never go back.

American Pie has good Pizza. We ordered the American Pie: Double Cheese, Pinapple, pepperoni. I would not classify the toppings as double. It is average and we asked and paid an upcharge for additional toppings because the first time we ordered it waspretty skimpy on the Pinapple and pepperoni. (Even after the requested extra and paid upcharge) The reason for 2 stars is thefollowing: Overpriced mozzarella sticks. We got an order to go and it was incredibly disappointing. 5 sticks for almost 8 bucks.I think they need to add to the menu the number of mozzarella sticks per order. I'd never have purchased it had I known. Theywere also very salty and just not very appealing. It is very pricey and the wait times are a bit ridiculous and long. Weordered twice both times calling ahead and both times the food took 1+ hours for a pizza. We were told different over the phoneabout length of time and it ended up being twice as long as what they'd told us. Aside from that great pizza and lots ofoutdoor seating although not the cleanest seating area.
