Kern Valley Airport - Kernville

This airport offers a rather entertaining experience for flying in and out. It presents a nice challenge. The café staff is fantastic, and the food is enjoyable. The camping area near the runway and river adds to the charm. Plus, having a shower available is a great bonus!

What a lovely little airport café! We flew in and camped at the airport's camping area, which is just a short walk from the café ($20 per night). The seating options include both indoor and terrace areas. The staff genuinely worked hard to serve the customers. While I wouldn't say they were the most experienced—there were a few minor hiccups—they remained friendly throughout. I tried a breakfast burrito, and although it wasn't quite as good as I had hoped, it did the job. The prices seemed a bit high, but maybe this is just the new normal. I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again, especially since I've heard their burgers are really good!

I really enjoy going for breakfast on the weekends. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the food is delicious. It's also entertaining to watch the planes landing nearby. Overall, it's a great experience!

Runway is in excellent condition. There is no tower but someone in the onsite restaurant will answer questions when you are flying into the airport. There is a nice campground at the north end with an airplane parking area.

Great place to camp and very helpful airport manager.
