Joe's Cafe Donuts King Cakes - Kenner

I'd been here with my husband many times and always had tasty food and good service specifically great donuts. However, I got very sick after a visit in the fall of 2021. We ate in the restaurant at about 6:30am and they were short staffed and had a huge call in order that the kitchen was working on. I ordered breakfast, which included scrambled eggs. I can pinpoint this as I hadn't ordered eggs from a restaurant in several years. Looking back, I wish I hadn't ordered them this time either. After a couple of days feeling very ill with no hope of relief I took myself to the ER and was immediately admitted to the ICU where I spent 7 full days hooked to IV fluids and antibiotics to fight a severe case of salmonella. I wish I'd held off on ordering the $2 worth of eggs that day, which would have saved me over $5,000 in post insurance hospital charges. I continue to tell people that this restaurant has good food, and hopefully this hasn't and doesn't happen to anyone else.

Great donuts. Quick stop for coffee and donut on way to airport. Great looking food, staff was friendly, everyone seemed to know everyone. Good local spot

It was very busy. The flow was ok.. but there were menus that were touched by other people left on the counter. Not sure if that's safe. One of the servers told me about the daiquiris but could not direct me to a menu. I ordered the American burger but no condiments and only one onion.

This place is simply awesome! It's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The food is tasty and affordable. AND THE DONUTS AND BEIGNETS ARE FRESHLY MADE AND DELICIOUS!

The staff at Joe's is absolutely amazing. They define what a neighborhood joint should be. 6:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. You always get warm and friendly service. We come get donuts and fritters all the time and let me say the fritters alone are worth a trip no matter how far away you are. A couple of weeks ago we had a birthday cake made out of Joe's donuts for my dad's 70th. It was literally the best cake ever. Sure we assembled it ourselves but the staff was amazing with making sure I had everything I needed early in the morning for the surprise. Just another testament to how awesome you guys are thanks for everything.
