Maidens Lane - Katherine East

There was only one true vegan option on the menu (granola) and they were only willing to make one other dish vegan (chicken burger). The food was mediocre, and it was disappointing to see such limited options and lack of accommodation for vegans. The coffee, however, was decent.

I only had time for a coffee, which was excellent. The coffee, the fantastic atmosphere, and the friendly staff were a pleasant surprise in an industrial area! I will definitely return to try the food as it looked delicious.

The staff went above and beyond for me which was amazing. All I asked was if there was a charging station as my phone was dying and the lady said no, there is just a spare power point. Sucks to be me because I had my cable not my plug. Anyways, out comes another one of the waiters with a plug for me. Honestly they didn 't have to do that. The place itself is cute. Definitely hard to find if you aren 't following maps and haven 't been here before. Lovely outdoor space and small inside space. Very welcoming and as I said previously amazing staff and service. I ordered the veggie chicken burger and it was lovely! I like that they had this vegan option with vegan mayo and onion rings. The iced tea is also nice, not sweet at all but very refreshing on a hot day. The coffee is Campos. I didn 't order but it is a good brand! They offer plant milks as well. Couldn 't recommend this place more if you are about in Katherine!

While passing through Katherine and finding that the only other cafe with vegan options was closed for summer break, I was delighted to discover Maidens Lane. The vegan breakfast options were limited but satisfying. I really enjoyed the avocado smash and the coffee was also excellent.

We visited this restaurant twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. I tried the chicken dumpling burger, which was a unique and delicious choice, and the Reuben Bennie (eggs Benedict). The food was excellent and the service was welcoming. While the restaurant is not located in the center of town, it is definitely worth the brief journey to visit.
