Karl’s - Kassel

We loved our diner at Karl's watching over the Fulda-river, enjoying the view of row-boats, swimmers, kayaks, paddle-boarders, herons, etc. The food was just lovely, fresh ingredients, very nicely served. The service was the friendliest we had in Kassel. We will certainly be back!

We came on a saturday evening and the place was rather busy. They told us they have a special Christmas menu. We took the deer (? Hirsch) goulash and the goose plate. Both were excellent and huge. Lots of veggies on the side, although cooked and not fresh. Desert was a parfait of gingerbread cookies with cherries- very good. Not vert cheap but good value for money.

To be fair, the restaurant is built on the site of a former hospital, hence the name. The restaurant is decorated in a lovely modern design yet still keeps some of the original architectural elements. We ate two meals here and everyone was very happy with the food. We enjoyed several types of schnitzel, rouladen, steak, and lots of beer! The food was the best we had in out 10 day visit. The server we had (wish I had her name) was excellent and personable and made our visit extra special. They have a great outside dining area overlooking the Fulda River, are but we could not utilize due to a disabled relative who could not go downstairs. I'll bet it is lovely to dine al fresco in good weather. We would highly recommend dining here!

What a brillinat resturant with a good selection of wine, excellent menu and service. We had the "eat as much as you like" Ganz special and it was mouth watering....this establishment must rank as one of the best in Kassel and I can imagine summer eveings looking over the river must be super!
