Sagar Ratna - Karnāl

The original Sagar Ratna restaurant at Defence Colony in New Delhi sets the standard for the chain. I have visited several of their locations over the years, including this one multiple times. I tried the Rava Dosa, which was just okay – the sambhar was too watery and the coconut chutney lacked flavor. A member of my group ordered Idly, which was soft and tasty, but again let down by the watery sambhar and bland coconut chutney. The Vadas were disappointing as they were hard, and I did mention this to the Manager. Be cautious with the mineral water offer as they may try to give you the most expensive option without informing you of the price until you receive the bill. Overall, it's a good and clean place to dine.

While on highway, travelling from Delhi towards Chandigarh, Punjab or further, I always stop at Sagar Ratna, Karnal for sometime for stretching, biological break and have a bite of South Indian delicacies. Service at this restaurant is good and quality of food is same as in their other outlets.

Location : This is in a complex on the main GT road some 5 to 6 KM after Karnal. Food : South Indian, North Indian and Chinese Experience: I always tried South Indian food here. And just to inform you this is not a franchise of Sagar Ratna. They themselves run this. Delicious dosas, Mini Idlis, Poori Bhajji, filter coffee. This taste I never experienced in Delhi also. Too good. Try their Chettinad preparation if a bit spicy food you like. Filter coffee is a must to end your breakfast. Enjoyed a lot. Whenever I travel to Punjab, I never stops at Murthal. Always here. You will love it, I am sure.

Visited this place recently for vegetarian food since it was Navratras and turned out to be superb. Had their Thali and it was one of the best I have had. South Indian fare was much better than earlier, especially the Upma which was super soft. We tried the Rava Masala Coconut Dosa for the first time and loved it.Only issue is their service which is super slow. Also, they say they serve only the 300 ml soft drinks but would not show you the bottle - that's concerning and unfair.

Standard Sagar Ratna experience...always awesome! Anything you order is delicious...north indian or south indian...quick service and decent washrooms.... Parking is available...
