Gill's Lanai - Kapaau

Our family ordered the Beyond Wurst with garlic and another one with truffles (without the parmesan), along with the tofu bánh mì, which came with a side of local purple potato salad. We also tried three flavors of smoothies: acai, berry, and mango. All were good, but the mango stood out as the best for its tropical flavor.

Gill's Lanai is a charming little hidden gem that serves as a delightful spot for lunch! I adored the colorful terrace seating, set amidst a lovely garden at the back. The server, who is also the owner, was incredibly friendly and welcomed us even though we arrived a few minutes after closing time. Melissa, the talented cook, prepared a phenomenal tofu banh mi, which is hands-down one of the freshest and most delicious sandwiches I've ever tasted. Her homemade sauce was bursting with flavor! We also tried the vegan hot dog and several smoothies, all of which were fantastic! I've heard they offer a special vegan dish on Tuesdays, so that's something to look forward to. This is definitely a must-visit spot on your way back from or to Pololu Lookout!

During our family vacation, we had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant. There were only a couple of options available for us: my partner and child selected the vegan apple sage roast hot dog with chips, while I opted for the lemongrass tofu sandwich. Both dishes were delicious and arrived surprisingly quickly, even with the large group we had. My omnivorous family members also enjoyed their meals. The small outdoor dining area provided a nice setting where we could chat with locals. Overall, it was definitely a great little stop on the Big Island.

If you're expecting something fancy or even full restaurant from a place that has porch in the name... you're at the wrong place. Perfect to grab a quick lunch, we couldn't have been happier. The vegan truffles were to die for, and my wife very much liked her tofu banh mi. I was surprised and delighted with my loaded field roast dog. Couple cans of soda later and we were refreshed and ready for the afternoon.
