Bidrage med feedbackFoods bomb, had the turkey club and Cuban sandwiches with Mac salad. The coffee and mimosas were delicious and the service was great! We were looking for a low key, simple place to grab drinks and a bite and this was it. Thanks!
Serendipitous choice to have breakfast here- place we sometimes go to when we come to Kauai was going to be blocked off for the Kam Day Parade. The waitress greeted everyone who entered with an exhuberant hello how are you. She was very attentive and brought us tall glasses of iced H2O. There were 3 tv screens on as it is a sports bar that serves breakfast from 7 a.m. The mahimahi I had was about an inch thick and cooked tenderly throughout. It came with 2 eggs, 4 triangled pieces of buttered toast and jam, tartar sauce all very yummy but the potatoes, now that's what breakfast potatoes should always taste like. Each piece was crispy but not greasy at all with bits of red green bell pepper squares for color and a miniscule pinch of onions cooked to translucency.
We had a weird experience in this spot. It was late night and we were tired from a full and active day. We had to drag ourselves out and off the resort to look for something quick and easy to eat. The reviews looked promising for 9th Island. When we walked in there were only a couple of guys at the bar. We pulled up a couple of stoop at the corner of the bar and hubby ordered a burger and some fries. I 'm guessing the kitchen was actually already closed but the bartender didn 't know, apologized to the cook and placed our order. They still served which was nice but hindsight, I kind of wish they refused. We each had a very strong drink and the bartenders were really nice but the food was not that great. Hubbs ate enough of his burger to satisfy his hunger for the night and I ate a couple of fries. One of the guys at the bar was a tourist and the other must have been a regular. The regular was so obnoxious. He was loud and kept asking us questions about Hip Hop and what it meant to us. I 'm serious. He was asking us to rap and then he would rap , using lines from real songs. We just tried to finish our food and drinks as soon as we could so we could get back to the resort and sleep. You can tell the staff tolerates him and he 's harmless, just annoying as all hell.
We had a strange and not super pleasant experience here. We were greeted right away and our waitress had menus to us as soon as we sat down, which was awesome. I ordered a whiskey coke and it quickly arrived. It was definitely not a whiskey coke. From what I could figure, it was tequila and whiskey with a splash of coke. Strange but I drank it...because...well, it was going to do the job. We ordered the steak dinner and the Cuban sandwich with a side of ranch. When it arrived it looked like something that might come out of your kitchen at home. The steak was cheap but not terrible and the A 1 sauce had been watered down so it can splashing out of the bottle. Just weird. The sandwich was ok, again, something you might make at home.I had to ask again for the side of ranch I had ordered. We then asked for ice water, and had to ask again in about 15 minutes because it was forgotten. The server was friendly, but not on it. When the check arrived it had an extra drink on it, which was quickly removed when I pointed it out. Overall, edible food but would not recommend it.
Very loud. Serves food late, which was good for us tonight. Burgers, some steaks, other sandwiches. Opted for chicken fried steak. Service was friendly but incompetent. Server appeared to be either high or drunk. Not falling down, but the eyes and mannerisms seemed pretty obvious. Couldn't even read her own order pad and had to ask again what I ordered. Then delivered the salad to the wrong person. Mashed potatoes were as boring as any I've ever had. Not bad, really, but mostly flavorless. Added lots of salt and pepper. Chicken fried steak was good. Tried the fries others got and they were unseasoned, but cooked perfectly and pretty good. Also tried a fish taco and it was good. I'm told the teriyaki chicken, and fish and chips were good too, but I didn't try. I would rate my meal two stars, but others liked theirs more and I agree the ones I sampled were good. So I will go for three here. The fish tacos were a solid 3.5 or 4 for sure. I also have to deduct for the hazy server.
