Jaenicke's Root Beer Stand - Kankakee

This restaurant has been around for over twenty years. There are only a handful of places that serve Green River, and this is one of them. It's a great spot to grab a quick bite before you head out.

This place is classic and has been apart of Kankakee for a very long time The workers are awesome Of course you have to either take your food or eat outside but it is worth it. The food is really good. A lot of people eat here because it may be a small place and sometimes there's a wait in line but the food is awesome. I appreciate the service I appreciate the kindness and I believe that you can get a Green River here which is a drink that is like none other. I usually order the chicken tenders with fries which is usually about nine bucks.

Old favorite place, great service from cashier, food prepared correctly and quickly.

I ate the food and got so sick after, btw it was the chicken fingers! I’ve always eaten here but do not get the chicken!

While I say that jokingly, there's more truth to it than I’d like to admit. I'm really not sure how long people will continue to pay Chicago-level prices for subpar food. Jaenicke's in Bourbonnais has lost my business for good, and I’ll be willing to drive a bit further for a better product at a reasonable price. The owner of the Bourbonnais location should be embarrassed to allow this kind of experience to happen.
