Moxie's Grill & Bar - Kanata

Went here tonight with eleven 14 year old girls and 12 parents. Our group showed up at 5 PM to an almost empty restaurant and were told by the hostess that they could not accommodate us because they do not take sports teams, or groups of kids because they cause trouble (past experiences)…. We offered to sea parade and sit in smaller groups but were denied. When the manager showed up, he said they could not accommodate us because they had too many large groups with reservations but the hostess clearly told us they do not accept reservations , so especially kids or sports teams. When we told the manager we had called twice to make reservations and were told that they don’t take reservations for large groups and just to show up he claimed once again that we didn’t have a reservation and we could not take our group, but the waitress clearly told us the real reason. This is totally unacceptable as we are all paying customers and our group of girls were dressed up to celebrate their opportunity to play in a Canadian national volleyball tournament, in our country’s capital. Unacceptable sexist, age discrimination, shame on Moxies! Unhappy Customer Bryan

I cannot think of one negative remark regarding this particular restaurant. We must have been five of the most particular customers they have had to please: two individuals on a keto diet, two vegetarians and one teenager. From the very onset the staff were welcoming and assured us that they would be more than happy to cater to our specific needs and they were true to their word. The food was delicious, exactly as we had requested according to our specifications, and the portions quite adequate for the price. We received stellar service from our waitress, Savana and I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Bravo Moxies and kudos to Savana!!!

Went with family including two young children. Sat on patio. Seems like the restaurant that has a kids’ menu rarely/never hosts young children. No cups with lids so bring your own. Food was good. Kids portions very large for kids. Food took a reasonable amount of time to arrive but getting drinks before that took forever. We had a range of dishes and all were good. Waiter did not come back to see how things were going and so we could not ask for needed items. Had to go looking for him at bill time as kids were getting antsy and he was no where to be seen. Not just us, neighbouring table did not get their appetizer. Might return with adults only and give service another try but not sure would bring kids.

Food was excellent. However, it you're looking for a nice quiet dinner this isn't the place. Very loud in the dining room! The food...we devoured the roasted tomato and whipped feta as an appetizer...so good! We had the mushroom sirloin which was cooked to perfection. My chicken Madeira rigatoni was so delicious. We paired it with a bottle of Kim Crawford. Our server, Kyle, was very attentive and provided excellent menu recommendations. I would come back if only for him!

We have eaten here on many occasions and have never had anything short of great service and good food. We are gluten free and all staff are extremely well trained to address that issue. In addition to the attentiveness of wait staff the manager often comes around to make sure everything is up to par. It is a very well run restaurant.
