The Gorditas here are delicious. Located in the Mercadito, La Cocina Restaurant is my favorite place for Gorditas. I don't usually order Gorditas when I go out, but when I do, I come here. Eating at La Cocina is always nostalgic and before I go to La Cocina, I usually walk around to see all the unique products sold here and Dia De Los Muertos items on display. The sights, sounds, variety of products, aromas, and activity of the Mercadito remind me of the magical realism found in a Marquez novel. The Mercadito has been around for a long time, and I still remember being mesmerized by the energy and the colorful display of products, foods, and murals as a young child growing up in Boyle Heights. La Cocina offers many types of protein to accompany the Gordita, and I usually enjoy the Gordita de carnitas the most. The place is very casual, and the customer service is always friendly. The menu is on the wall and orders are prepared quickly. There is a large parking lot and some street parking. Prices are very affordable and reasonable.

La Cocina Restaurant is the best place in town for Gorditas!!! I've been enjoying these Gorditas at El Mercadito on Indiana since I was a kid.

5 stars are specifically for the Gorditas, dont really get anything else, although the Carnitas are decent.Not sure how long this place has been here at El Mercadito, but ive been eating them for a good 30 years. They are located on the street level, which is technically middle floor as they have a lower level where they sell mainly clothes and stuff.Gortitas are some of the best in LA imo. They are hand made and fried fresh, sliced and stuffed with choice of meat, shredded lettuce and beans.They pretty much taste like magic. I get the Chile Verde(green chili) and Chile Rojo(red chili). Both pork cooked in the sauces.Parking is free but sometimes a hassle when its busy. Food upstairs from the restaurants can be sus, I stick with La Cocina.

I've been going to eat the BEST gorditas ever. Everyone that I've invited here has loved the food. The cashiers are fast efficient and helpful. The orders are ready quickly.

I loved coming here since I was small but today was such a disappointment I got flautas de pollo for my daughter and the chicken was rotten ,Check your food before you eat !!!
