Bidrage med feedbackWent here for a family get together with about 12 of us. Although we ended up with water and glasses on the table and with Tea and cups we had to keep prompting the staff to deliver these. Sad because the food was okay and we had a good time.
We were a large group of work friends and there was another large table of workmates at another table which is always challenging. The service wasn't brilliant but not terrible either and I chalked it up to the large group and noise form the two groups. I think for yum cha for a group it is better to nominate one or two spokespeople to make decisions on behalf of the group and the server to check with that person/people if a yumcha dish is wanted or not. I think we got a few that nobody was very interested in. Once we new what we really liked we could ask for more of that. We all enjoyed the yum cha and people were able to select to suit their food preferences including one person with a pork sensitivity and a vegetarian. I've been disappointed at yumcha to find they'd run out of the egg custard tarts and I was happy this was not the case for us, the tarts were yummy.
As former long-term Canberra residents, we returned expecting the same high quality we had experienced in the past. The greeting was luke-warm and non-attentive, but later, staff who remembered us turned up and the quality of service improved. The food was fairly ordinary, and towards the expensive end when compared to pricing in Melbourne and Sydney. It seems they are trading on their captive audience and regular customers.
A group of ten of us had dinner and ordered 12 dishes. I highly recommend the Mongolian lamb, sate chicken, salt & pepper squid, and crispy beef. I would suggest skipping the cashew chicken and the bean curd with 4 mushrooms, as they were bland and boring. Overall, the meal was mostly good and served quickly, but some friendly customer service and a smile would have been appreciated.
2 of us looking for a meal after going to the pictures. This restaurant was close by. Started out with sharing curry puffs and dim sims - very, very nice. For mains, we again shared a mongolian beef, sweet and soup pork, and a plate of vegetables. Talk about bland food. I don't know if it was an off night but I could not recommend any of these dishes.I would go back for the entree, and maybe think about trying some other dishes.
