Not Lamberts. Had seen this place a couple of times on my way to the nearby sporting goods store and my wife and I decided to try it out today. Just for reference we ate at the Lambert 's in Foley, AL about a month ago, twice. We arrived around 11 and the servers were friendly and prompt, the mgr greeted everyone as they came in. The pass arounds were limited when compared to Lambert 's and that 's what this place is trying to copy. The rolls were good and tossed to you, the white beans were a tad undercooked and under seasoned, the fried okra was typical frozen fare but served HOT. That was all that I saw passed around but they did make the rounds several times.A couple behind us I overhead the husband ask the waitress for sorgham, she said: What?, he said: Sorgham molasses, her response, I 've never heard of that but she did go and ask if they had any, nope. On the table is a squirt bottle of liquid 'butter ' and a teddy bear of honey, but at Lamberts there is someone that comes around with a can of molasses.I had catfish, mac and cheese, and sweet potatoe cassarole. Catfish was hot and seasoned fine, the sw pot cas was ok, but lacked the pecans, chunks of pot, and crust that I 've come to expect, it was ok just not my style. The mac and cheese, I asked if it was just cheese and noodles or a cassarole style and the waitress said it 's baked. Not that I could tell, just a Code out-of-the-box style cheese and noodles, again OK but still missing that something extra.Wife had the fried shrimp, sw pot cas, and fried squash. Shrimp were a size or so up from popcorn with lots of breading. Everything was ok, hot, fresh and ready for the lunch crowd. We left full and to be honest I could make a meal off the hot rolls!I saw no issues with the wait staff. With some refinements to punch up the recipes for the veggies they could shine and be the talk of the town, like Lamberts but they are coming up short. We would eat there again to try something else.
Great breakfast, but lunch and dinner he gone downhill the last couple years... It's worth going in the morning, less crowded than IHOP.
Instant potatoes, and store bought food makes this place less than averageThe service is fair.
I like that it's a rendition of Lambert's Cafe; pass arounds but no throwed rolls.
