Turkish Kebab House - Johannesburg

So today we decided to grab lunch at Turkish Kebab, the Service was unkind today unfortunately, however the food was great so I'll definitely be back again whenever I'm in the area...

They make the best shawarma or Doner gyro or what you call this turning around meat , in South Africa . The owner Burhan is going back to Turkey very soon . So hurry up and enjoy the last days , try Iskender , doner durum , lahmacun and ofcourse pide.

Early dinner at the Turkish kebab house in mayfair. Abit of a dodgy street but by far my favourite takeaway place. The traditional Turkish food includes homemade shish kebab, doner, humus and Turkish meatballs. The food is all made fresh in front of you and the meat is sliced fresh off the fire. Usually about R250 for 2 people, with fresh food and large portions this little spot is a real gem. The area as mentioned is abit dodge and the overall decor and feel of the shop isn't much but still today havnt had takeaways I enjoy more. If anyone is will to take a drive out to mayfair area I'd definitely suggest this little shop, in terms of taste and quality definitely 5/5

This is my favourite Turkish restaurant in Johannesburg. There aren't many to begin but this place is really great. The food is delicious, bottomless tea on the house. No alcohol served here, obviously, but who needs it when the food is this great. Food comes quickly but it can be challenging to get the attention of a waiting staff. The restaurant is usually busy and they close early so be sure to check times and get there early as they often run out of food. Normally that might be a complaint but I think that's how I want my restaurant food to be, freshly cooked on the day, only as needed and if you don't make it in time, hard luck. I recommend the meat platters but really you can't go wrong here. Don't forget to have the Turkish coffee which is delicious (if it's your first time, stop when you get to the sediment. Yes it is meant to have sediment at the bottom). This place right here is one of Jo'burg's hidden gems. Make a plan to come here.

You hardly find that delicious food even in Turkey. It is not a fancy Restourant but food makes you happy. Doner Kebab( shwarma) is the best. Don't forget to try.
