Bidrage med feedbackGreat sufganiyot that my wife's family demands for chanukah, but a bit pricey.
Went here to get a few cakes for Shabbat. we got two cakes that were not dairy. Were recommended the chocolate babka and apple strudel. The chocolate cake was ok. Dry from the outside with a slightly moist interior. Would give 3/5. 25 nis. The Apple strudel was horrible. No taste or sugar added. Or so it seems. 0/5. 33 nis. Was packed with customers so I assumed this place was good but maybe it’s the only one around.
The strudels was ok sorry to see had canned cherries and coffee was not that hot seems to be very popular place for locals bathroom could be cleaner a bit pricy for local place...
Austro-Hungarian coffee and bakery that stands in this place for decades, while everything around is replaced, and for a good reason...
In 1996-1997 we lived on Harav Berlin, steps away from this extraordinary bakery, coffee shop. I am thrilled to have just seen a Jerusalem Post article which gives a history of Jerusalem Coffee Shops, saying near the end that Duvshanit, Old Katamon is one of the best and most authentic, homey. I went nearly every day and was warmly welcomed by Nuriel Zarifi, the founder 's son, ordered coffee and the most delicious pastries, stayed to read, chat, write, contemplate. In my many times traveling around the world for more than fifty years I have never experienced a coffee shop as wonderful as this one at 42 Hapalmach. I always referred to it as Nuriel 's (family name is Duvshanit). Todah rabah Nuriel!
