Light Horse Tavern - Jersey City

I went with a friend on a Thursday night. There was live music, which was a nice touch. The food was decent and the service was good. I had wine so I can't really comment on their drinks but they have a decent wine selection. They do a good job with safety during these crazy times. Tables are spaced out. They have a good seating arrangement outdoors as well. The music however was quite loud to have a conversation.

I have always wanted to try this place so gave it a shot one weekend. The food in itself is nothing much to wax lyrics about as it gets the job done decent stuff. I was thoroughly impressed with the ambience of sitting outdoors and having a majestic view of the Manhattan skyline while enjoying conversations with friends on a beautiful summer day. As for the service, the lesser said the better. We waited close to 45 minutes to get our food after the order was made. The waitress did acknowledge that they were short staffed, so I appreciate the transparency. I know some restaurants offer the first round of drinks on the house should you have to wait for your food for more than 30 minutes. Maybe that is something LH Tavern could consider? Or, maybe restrict the number of patrons you decide to serve at any one point? Some of the friends I was with promised never to visit the place again due to the long delays. I would not go that far, but this is something that the owners ought to consider as they navigate a tight labor market. Quality over quantity I say!

Crab kuchen salad, was really excellent, forget to make picture. not in the menu, reservations some days earlier, personal was masked. my friend had steak and egg that was also delicious. well personalized beautiful atmosphere during lunch many other options then on the online menu, at least four menus change all day (necessarily updating). I would like to repeat

Lovely place to eat in Jersey City! Came here on a double date with our wonderful friends for Sunday brunch. Mimosas were great, the flavor of our avocado toast was delicious! I think I may always need to add pears and walnuts from now on because the flavor combo was outstanding. We also ordered shrimp cocktail appetizer which was good. The interior was beautiful too with a piano and bar set up with tables for indoor dining as well (we sat outdoors). Staff was very polite, accommodating to my dairy allergy, and very nice. Could benefit from slightly faster service we waited a very long time for food, but because we were so happy to see and catch up with our friends we didn’t mind the wait. Went here for drinks and dessert. Was sorely disappointed by both the staff and the food. Our bartender pour the wrong port then pours it back in (it ruins the drink adding more oxygen). Our apple pie was sad and soggy and gave us a terrible stomach ache and the ice cream they gave us was so small and super icy instead of creamy.
