Bidrage med feedbackFantastic gem of a place!!Hits all the right notes of down home PA while maintaining consistent strides toward creativity, craftsmanship and sustainability. Wished I could have returned (was there on a Sunday but they are closed on early weekdays at this point. My finicky friend felt the chicken gyro was the best they 'd ever tasted. They also had a mushroom toast like bruschetta app which was indeed divine.I had a pot roast sandwich and wasn 't disappointed and noted that the same bread was used for my friend 's appetizer as was on my sandie which I give kudos to the kitchen creators for finding ways to keep the stores fresh by keeping inventory smaller.Sometimes a little rain must fall my soup I think was the 3 onion (a standard of the menu , while I had ordered the soup du jour (a coconut curry offering but I had gotten the sense that we were quite literally our young waiter 's 1st solo table and the onion soup was a delicious and slightly spicy, likely vegetarian, variant so I did not feel slighted. The portions are decent and lean toward the generous so there were many things I really wanted to try (spicy broccoli! oh to which region does their falafel lean? the agony of not wanting to be a glutton where 's my bucket?? ; The end of a magical meal that caught both of us by surprise (so glad I pushed to try it out! had me wistful and the handwritten sign just above my friend 's head proclaimed $10 signature artisnal milkshake creations....Suffice to say I made a bit of a compromise with my inner guilt shame [to go box ordered for the non liquid part of this dessert] and ordered the one at the top of the list (specific name lost to the caloric haze it featured coffee ice cream topped with whipped cream, and the glass was rimmed with homemade icing to which a popular crunchy toasted cereal with a cinnamony sweet taste were affixed...and the whole soda fountain dream was topped with a locally made bacon encrusted glazed donut into which half of a pop tart had crash landed. So my initial apprehension of the largess of spending another $10 on a milkshake which I certainly did not require was quickly cast aside. It bears repeating that I was disappointed that they were going to be closed the following two days for both my friend and I wanted to try more things (but live 2 hours away .Would certainly try to reroute past this place if I ever can afford the time. If you are in the Laurel Mountains area of PA I STRONGLY hope you give it a try this is the kind of place America needs more of in a way, it is a modern interpretation of the roadside diners of yesteryear (good food, friendly service with an earnest yet modest helping of the best elements of Gen X and beyond.
Very tasty! Definitely worth a stop by for a meal or ice cream.
This is an absolute gem and a must try! They have Menu choices with food fusions that are not found near this area. 2 of us had the Barrimundi with quinoa, lentils and pistachio pesto salsa and whipped feta sauce. The perfect blend. Another picky eater who doesn 't like anything that isn 't meat and potatoes you know the adult version of Mikey had Philadelphia cheese steak macaroni and cheese cavatappi and raved about it through the entire meal and took his leftovers with him. The portions are amazing. Another had a Reuben with fries. The fries are crisp on the outside and softer on the inside. Our Reuben connoisseur says that Reuben was the best ever and it was gone in an instant. Carrot cake was extremely flavorful and moist and the cream cheese had just the right amount of sweet vs tang. Highly recommend the salted caramel Java ice cream! We will definitely be back! Cannot give it higher ratings than 5 stars or I would! Our server was extremely friendly and helpful even though we walked in 40 minutes before close. The chef was kind enough to split a large platter into 2 dishes so we could share. The only problem was the temperature in the dining room could be warmer! BUT it is 35 degrees outside so there 's that. No one of our party of 4 had any complaints. Only accolades for this place.
Had the valentines tasting menu. The flavors in these dishes are on par with Michelin rated restaurants I’ve patronized. This restaurant is an event in itself, in place that is unexpected, in a setting that appeared to be curated to knock you out of your comfort zone serving nostalgia with a side of silly. Well done, we loved it!
Food and service is always excellent. Alex is always friendly and upbeat. We have never been less than impressed with anything we have gotten from here. An impressive variety of things on the menu. The milkshakes are great. It is worth the 40+ minute drive to come out here. This is quite the gem that I am very happy we found. The food and service keep bringing us back.
