Oka Sushi Takeaway - Jasper

Oka Sushi is located in the southern part of the town center and boasts a better renovation and atmosphere than many other restaurants in the area. The food quality is quite respectable. I ordered the Unagi roll known as the Black Dragon, which consists of ten pieces. While the Unagi itself comes in small portions, the rolls are generously sized. Both the presentation and flavor were delightful, and I particularly enjoyed the Unagi sauce that accompanied the rolls. We also tried the Teriyaki beef plate, salmon salad, fried calamari, and a local beer from Jasper. Everything was quite good, especially considering we're deep in the National Park. I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for some tasty sushi after a day of hiking in nature.

The place is small, and the menu is limited, but the flavors and ambiance are incredible. We arrived without a reservation and were lucky to snag a table. It felt like we were visiting a friend's home. The staff welcomed us warmly and treated us like family. The sashimi we ordered was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the presentation was nothing short of artistic!

Very clean, very organized. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately I felt the quality and taste of food was nowhere near where it was hyped up to be. 2 or 3 pieces of my sashimi were actually still frozen.the chef seemed to struggle to keep pace with only a few customers.From all the reading I had done I was truly expecting a world class dining experience. Reality was a cramped shoebox size restaurant next to the gift shop in the basement of the Jasper Park Lodge with honestly mediocre at best sushi. I really was hoping to provide a 5 star review on this spot, but I would be lying if I did !

We returned to enjoy a scrumptious sushi dinner at the hands of a Jasper legend, after a five year gap in visiting oka sushi. I was curious if the pandemic had changed the experience and it hadn't. Oka seems to get the freshest and tastiest fish from somewhere and masterfully creates works of art with every plate. The gaps between orders are actually fun and make you savor each bite, so the trick is to order in batches if you are the kind that simply can't wait. His best work is clearly with the mini oka roll, which is pricier than most but worth every penny. Have patience with making a reservation and plan your trip to Jasper around this exciting dining option. Lastly...i am a bit appalled to see one of two fickle negative reviews below. Obviously from folks who forgot their patience and smarts qt home. Bid them no attention! Oka is great.

Oka is truly exceptional. It's the best sushi I've ever had outside of oceanfront places. Everything is incredibly fresh and expertly crafted!
