Bidrage med feedbackSorry that I don't have a pic. This is a go to place where everything in the menu is consistently good. That's hard to say for a lot of places. I like going there and walking around to see all of the cool unique stores Jamestown has to offer.
We ate at Southern Roots on a Thursday night. It was outstanding and I am a harsh critic. The atmosphere is relaxed, tables are a little close and it can be noisy. The service was attentive without being overbearing and everyone was very friendly. Wine selections were adequate, nothing of particular note. The food was excellent. We started with the fried green tomatoes topped with bacon jam and pimento cheese. Lightly battered, toppings were terrific. I had the cedar plank salmon with fried Brussels sprouts and curried butternut squash and my daughter had the lobster ravioli. Both dishes were well seasoned, flavorful and served hot (which is often not the case). My salmon was cooked perfectly and the curried butternut squash added a really interesting taste contrast and texture. Entrees were in the $18-$32 range. Highly recommend Southern Roots.
Great food, nice ambiance, fantastic service. Parking may be a bit challenging but overall outstanding place
We went on a Tuesday night to avoid some of the weekend crowds. This place can be very loud if crowded inside. Highly recommend the outside seating since they have heaters. Nice restaurant well decorated and clean. Service is always great. We started with the Rosemary bread. It came out hot and very delicious. This is an app but fairly priced. I ordered the catfish and man some of the best I've ever had. Piping hot and perfectly seasoned fish. Fish was bone free and mild. Coating was perfect and not oily! Large portion, filet and one half. My sides were the curried butternut squash, amazing! And collards done right. Tender and piping hot with just the right amount of vinegar. My wife had the Thai shrimp app for her meal. Plenty of large shrimp in a flavorful and mildly spicy sauce. Her side salad was not primitive and had various lettuce types, Gorgonzola and apples, very nice. Mom had the meatloaf. Tasty sauce and a large portion. They could've cooked it a little less, but very good. She had the browned Brussel sprouts and eggplant fries. They were sweet and not pungent like some eggplant can be and not oily. My son had a great Caesar salad topped with perfectly cooked salmon. The prices are reasonable for what you receive. Keep up the good work Southern Roots!
This charming bistro has always been one of my favorites. But recently, it's gone above and beyond. The cocktails are crisper, the entrees are more savory, and the atmosphere is chill, professional, and romantic. Personally, I can't get enough of the iron skillet steak, which is always cooked to desired perfection. Complement it with a delicious Caesar and a full glass of red. You won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly and efficient, ready to ensure your date night goes off without a hitch.
