Golden Krust - Jamaica

I read a positive review on Happy Cow about this restaurant and assumed that the Spinach Patty was vegan. I tried one and loved it so much that I came back today to order another. When I asked more specifically, I found out that both the spinach and patty contain margarine. I am not sure about the soy options on the menu, but I suggest asking the staff for clarification on what is and isn't vegan. Just a heads up!

This is not Jamaican chicken soup. This is essentially orange water with spoiled potatoes. I made an effort to eat it, but the taste was truly revolting. It lacked any flavor, and if it had even been somewhat savory, I might have been able to finish it. Additionally, the patties were overcooked. Overall, the entire meal was inedible and despite my best efforts, I couldn't bring myself to eat it because I didn't want to waste my money.

This restaurant is a great spot to grab a bite in the morning or for lunch, offering a variety of Caribbean favorites. However, during my visit, they were out of peanut punch which was disappointing. The atmosphere could use some improvement, with men loitering outside selling weed and employees who don't seem happy to be there. It may be beneficial for the restaurant to consider giving their staff a raise or hiring new employees.

The lady had a very unpleasant attitude towards the man behind me early in the morning. She acted as if she owned the food, insisting that my porridge and Ackee and saltfish looked the same, as though I was begging her.

Their patties taste like it just came out the freezer and they warmed it in a microwave. Saw someone outside with their apron on and just right back inside. The moment you step outside the kitchen TAKE YOUR APRON OFF!
