Sushi House - Jacksonville

While the ambiance of the restaurant may not be perfect and the setting isn't the most stunning, the sushi rolls more than make up for it! The fish is incredibly fresh, the rice is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. The staff is also very courteous.

I went there last night and was really excited based on the reviews I read! The good: the sushi was amazing, at least the one out of three that I ordered. The bad: the server seemed a bit off.

Oh no, what happened to this place? I was here maybe a year or two ago and was happy with everything, but this time it was just disappointing! 1) Right.

The sashimi is consistently excellent, served cold and in generous portions. However, the clear soup doesn't live up to its name; it's not truly clear and contains unusual ingredients aside from the mushrooms, giving it a flavor reminiscent of heavy beef stock. Additionally, the ponzu sauce for the special maki should be light and citrusy, but it arrives brown and chunky. Aside from the fact that the food was delivered 30 minutes later than promised, I would recommend this place, but only with these concerns in mind.

As a sushi enthusiast, moving from the West Coast to the South has made me miss the amazing food, especially the affordable sushi. However, this place makes me feel like I'm back home for a delightful 45 minutes. I have a soft spot for little restaurants like this, and the sushi house is definitely my go-to spot for sushi in Jacksonville!
