Hopdoddy Burger - Jacksonville

At first glance, the burger seemed reasonable for a $15 price tag. However, when I got home to enjoy it, I was disappointed to find that the runny egg on the burger was both overcooked and raw—the bottom was very brown while the yolk was half cooked and half runny, with some of the egg white still clear! As for the burger itself, it was far from medium; the exterior was charred, but the inside was red and appeared uncooked. I ended up taking the burger apart and cooking it to the proper temperature myself, which was not how I envisioned my evening. I was really hoping for a meal I wouldn’t have to prepare myself, so this was quite a letdown. While the current burger bar offers a menu similar to the old Grub Burger Bar, it falls short in terms of service and food quality. With so many other places serving comparable burgers, I think it will be some time before I consider giving this place another chance.

The bad: As for the milkshake, I had heard it was legendary from other reviews, but my experience was quite the opposite—epically bad, in fact. A milkshake should be a blend of ice cream, milk, and flavor, but what my coworkers and I received in our cookies and cream milkshakes was mostly heavy whipping cream with possibly one Oreo. I didn't taste any ice cream at all. To make matters worse, it was served at room temperature but still had a thick consistency that further convinced me there was no ice cream involved. I was very disappointed. Overall, the food was good, but I won't be trying the milkshake again if I return.

I ordered the Nacho Fries, the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and the El Diablo, along with some Margaritas. What a hidden gem! Everything was incredibly fresh and tasted amazing. I'll definitely be back!

Since I lived in Austin, I was familiar with this chain, but I have been pleasantly surprised with the same great qualities as the other restaurant I have visited before. The concept is walk in and place your order. Choose sandwich, don’t forget order of fries which is big enough to easily split with 3 people comfortably, and grab a drink (soda, bar, or shake). They place you where to sit to bring you your food. The burger is spot on. I am anxious to try some of their chicken sandwiches. Kids def have options!

Great restaurant. Cashless, contact less, very modern. Food choices were excellent. Sorry, no pics, too hungry. Well stocked bar with ample beer selections. Apps were great overall a winner. I will definitely be back.
