Fresh Air Barbecue - Jackson

If you’re a fan of Barbecue, and you come to Georgia for a Barbecue tour, Fresh Air MUST be on your list. They are the oldest pit roasted barbecue in its original location in Georgia. I’ve been eating here since I was a small child. I’m about to be 50. It’s beyond time for a review. The first thing you’ll notice is it looks like a big roadside stand. Blink and you’ll miss the gravel parking lot. The second thing is the sawdust leading up to the door. The whole floor used to be sawdust from my understanding but I don’t remember that. Whether you dine in or take out, you’ll have to get in line. They complete your order at the counter. If you’re impatient, this ain’t the place for you. While in line, you’ll get to admire the articles, pictures and decor that has been on the walls for decades. You can order your meat wet or dry there is a price difference because the meat is weighed. Dry you get more meat. Wet you get meat and sauce. I get dry and get the sauce on the side. We are typically feeding the whole fam grandma, sons, daughter in love, and whoever else is around so this is a good option to have. The Brunswick stew… for the love of all things good and holy, get the stew! It is the same as it’s been since the 1940’s. It’s so good. We buy it by the gallon. If you’ve had “better” stew somewhere else, keep it to yourself, we want none of that negativity around here. Do yourself a favor and stop by if you’re in Jackson, or purposefully make your way there. I live almost an hour away, and will drive out of my way, to make sure grandmama gets barbecue for her birthday dinner. Real foodies, and lovers of nostalgia, will enjoy the heck out of Fresh Air Barbecue. Enjoy!

The pulled pork sandwich was really good. It was my first visit to this restaurant. I was expecting a full menu, but it only served the pork sandwich and the Brunswick stew. Everyone was nice and the restaurant was clean.

Love Fresh Air BBQ. Probably the best Brunswick Stew in Georgia.

Family deals are great, I think everyone I feed was happy .
