Bidrage med feedbackWhen I brought up these issues with the staff, they were defensive rather than receptive to feedback. While they admitted that the steam bun was frozen, they insisted that the dumplings had been made fresh that morning, as if that excused the poor quality. However, freshness doesn't matter if the food is poorly made from the start. Overall, Mo's may be a cozy spot for a cup of tea with interesting decorations to look at, but I have not returned for a meal after my disappointing experience with the food.
This restaurant is amazing. They have the best fresh food, excellent service, and a wide variety of delicious tea options. It's a must-visit!
I remember the first time I traveled to Newcastle with my boyfriend to meet his family. Mention Islington, or Izzo for short, and you were met with a look and a sheesh sound. It's not a part of town you want to be. Fast-forward a few years and Islington is turning itself around. There's Suspension Coffee that started it all and the newest addition to the map, Madame Mo's. I visited for lunch on a Thursday and found only one other customer. No problem, that just means more dumplings for me. Madame Mo's is a unique combination of grocer (with a few shelves of Japanese specialty items), tea, and dumpling restaurant. The setting isn't fancy, much like Islington, so it fits well. The entrees, despite their exotic names, are quite standard. Miso Soup, Wasabi Green Peas, and edamame beans are typical for a dumpling restaurant. The dumpling choices are divided into Tibetan and Japanese options. It's not clear if Madame Mo is Japanese, Tibetan, or Chinese. I decided on a mix of 8 dumplings, allowing me to sample two each of the Tibetan Lamb, vegetable dumplings, Japanese pork, and vegetable dumplings. The service was attentive, with my Curly Clouds green tea arriving promptly followed by the freshly steamed dumplings. The hint of ginger in the Japanese vegetable dumpling gave it a nice zing, but the standout for me was the Tibetan vegetable dumpling. It was juicy and flavorful. The waitress tried to persuade me to order another round of dumplings, but I was too full to accept. I didn't even have space for their green tea ice cream. Pro tip: Try the Tibetan vegetable dumpling. All of them.
The one star is really for eating. this place has a good selection of tees and a beautiful ambiente. but the food I ordered was cruel. the dumplings were really diligent with a much too thick skin that was not properly cooked, anyone who appreciates a good dumpling would be recommended to avoid them. to round it off, the meat jack I ordered was frozen. it really feels like they're just trying to jump on the decreasing train and deposit on the trend cash. when I mentioned these problems with eating, they decided to argue instead when they consider the feedback. while they had agreed to the frozen steam bunny, they had been crumbling against the poor, that they had been freshened this morning. as if all this should be done. it does not make any difference when they are made when they are made first bad. that said if they want a cozy room in the opposite for a nice cup tee, then mo’s is more than sufficient with something curious to see on the way out. but I've never been to eat again.
This place enters the shy. best fresh food, great service and to complete it from a huge selection of epic tee. must visit.
