La Bruja - Isla Mujeres

This little cantina in Colonia La Gloria serves up fantastic meals for a great price. The octopus in garlic sauce is melt in your mouth food. And the enchiladas suiza is the best on Isla. On top of that, they serve an excellent glass of vino blanco.

We make a trip from the north end to La Bruja every time we come to the island. On this trip we stuck with lighter fare guacamole (freshly made), salbutes, and quest fundido con chorizo. All was good, but the chorizo was a little charred. We always manage to come while the owners are watching the afternoon soap operas, so we got that additional entertainment! For local flavor, La Bruja is hard to beat.

I’m beyond obsessed with this place. So chill, so local, so delicious. It’s like their home kitchen and you’re staying with the best Mexican chef ever...she’s literally a bruja or cooking because how she gets it to taste that good is magic! I literally have dreams about that red hot sauce (so spicy, be careful! because it’s soooo good. Get the empanadas!

Small, simple restaurant up the street from Isla Animals and the Women’s beading shop. Substantial menu,decent drinks and very quick and pleasant service.

We will be on Isla in 20 days. Going with some friends that have been there with us before. Number one requested restaurant La Bruja. Love this place. Loving caring people, good grub cold drinks. See you soon Roberto and Maria(Mary)!!!
